There's this underutilized method of online marketing I've noticed most Nigerians don't really consider. I'll be talking about it further on.

Online advertising in Nigeria has taken a big shift over the years, no doubt. Let's take this statistic for instance: it says that between 2018 and 2020, Nigeria spent over 240 million US dollars on internet Advertising.

However, channels such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok, and other social media platforms are the ones dominating. True, they provide the required visibility for small and big businesses. And everyday, these social media platforms are making it easy to "promote" or "sponsor" their advert posts.

But, here's what I'm driving at:

Most businesses do not utilise buying advert spaces on blogs and websites in their advertising campaigns. The few that use this method, do not buy the spaces directly from the publishers or website owners. Instead, they go through Google Ads and end up spending more. Now, you must have noticed that most blogs --- particularly informational blogs --- have specific pages titled "advertise with us." It is on such pages that publishers or website owners talk about why advertisers should choose them, the type of audience they have, and the amount of traffic and visibility that an advertising brand will receive.

This method of advertising is a very affordable method of getting quality traffic to patronize your business and/or services. Here are some of the advantages of buying advert spaces on blogs:

1. Most "serious" blogs in Nigeria get between 10K - 100K monthly visitors. Imagine placing your advert in front of these people
2. Most blogs get traffic from search engines such as Google. Because of this, advertisers receive different, fresh set of audiences each day.

4. You can negotiate prices with the website owner.
5. You can terminate the adverts at any time you wish. Payment is monthly.
