Electricity In Asaba Versus Asaba Environs by AsabaAgent(m): 11:09am On Feb 10 |
Do you know that you can live in Asaba for one week without sighting Bedc electricity for one day whereas Asaba environs like Ugbolu and co have constant electricity. The only areas that enjoy Bedc electricity are people with 33 lines and it has caused the rich leaving in your vicinity to pay huge amount of money to migrate to 33 lines while leaving you behind to your fate. Unlike Lagos and some other states who addresses electricity power outages as they come, I think lackadaisical approach is on the part of electricity managers in Asaba and nobody cares. People have resorted to solar systems while the richer ones prefer to pay to be connected to 33 line a more constant line leaving the less privilege to their fate. 1 Like |

Then the governor should ask BEDC to migrate Asaba to 33KVA. Capital cities needs light. |

Onitsha and environs have much better electricity supply than Asaba. By international standards, Asaba is a surburb of Onitsha. 6 Likes |

At Oduke precisely, close to bonsaac, it's something else. We are in darkness and we are forced to pay NEPA bill every month or else they cut the light. My anger is that nobody is doing anything about it. The landlords are not having any meetings to stop the nonsense. Like op said, rich people are simply migrating to bonsaac where they use line 33. Now prepaid metre? Our compound is large and I don't think having one is a good option. Some people have big refrigerators, two or three ACs, electric cookers etc. Some peole don't have. So for people like we wey no dey use prepaid metre, (like almost everyone living in Oduke) you have to wait on God for light or start your generator. On the norms, they are supposed to bring it 3hrs in the morning (10am-1pm) and 3hrs in the night (same time.) Not everyday. One day in, one day off. That is, today is our turn, tomorrow is not our turn. So basically in a month, we receive light for two weeks. In that two weeks, we get 6hrs/24hrs each day. But we pay monthly. ₦3,100 per one bedroom flat. This was the wicked norm. But at least, we were paying since it's like an agreement. And we were taking it the way we saw it. But then , omo honest to God, since November 2023, or Should I say since Tinubu became president, we've gone from bad to worst. In short, they no longer bring light at all. Once or twice every month. And I mean, once or twice. No cap Sometimes, they jux flash it and it's over for the whole month. You can ask anybody living at Oduke. They'll tell you. And it's been this way to this day. Presently, we are in darkness. What's most painful is that we still pay. Yes o, we grumble and still pay. Maybe after refusing to pay bc they didn't bring it the previous month, they'll keep quiet but, when they bring it this month, especially on the last few days of the month, they'll bring bill we should pay for the previous month too. Landlord will say if they cut light cos of you, you'll be the one to pay for reconnection. Bla bla bla It's particularly hard for we wey dey live upstairs. Bc it's as though the community don't allow prepaid metres and the landlords aren't saying anything about it. We the tenants pay house rent, NEPA bill and also pay for water, since we cannot be carrying gallon and climbing stairs bc of water. In fact , one gallon of now #50 (per 25liters), the cost of one satchet of pure water. Omo I am TIRED of Oduke light ooo 😠😠 I don't know of BEDC hq are aware of what this people are doing to us here. I don't know if it's affecting other parts of Asaba |

Living in Asaba, you better pray for a cloudy day or else youll be sweating in the dark again, while your neighbors in the environs are living it up with their constant electricity! |

This week a friend had a similar conversation with me, he stays in Lagos. Apparently there is nothing wrong with electricity generation or distribution that is not the usual. Why Residents stopped having electricity has much as before is that PHCN affiliates and co decided to channel their supply to industry areas, cuz their tariff is higher in their areas. While residential can go days without electricity. I have spoken to some people living in or close to industry areas, apparently what my friends said is true. This is just wickedness. |
