15 MISCREANTS TO SPEND THREE MONTHS IN JAIL FOR OBSTRUCTION ON PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE

The Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) popularly known as KAI has revealed that 15 out of 17 miscreants arraigned for obstructing pedestrian movement on the Bolade-Oshodi pedestrian bridge have been sentenced to three months behind bars without the option of fine on a two-count charge bordering on breach of peace and unlawful conversion of government property to use by occupation in a judgement passed by Magistrate S.A Adefioye of the Lagos Special Offences (Mobile) Court, Bolade-Oshodi on Monday.

The Corps Marshal of the Agency, Major Olatunbosun Olaniyi Cole (Rtd) revealed this today at the Command Headquarters of the Agency, Bolade-Oshodi, saying ‘‘The conviction of these criminal elements is a right step in the right direction, being that they have caused irreparable havoc to Lagosians in transit by harassing men, women and dispossessing them of their valuables which forces them to risk their lives by crossing the highways’’.

Cole further revealed that the other two who pleaded not guilty have been remanded in custody as the presiding Magistrate adjourned the case to the 19th of March, 2024. The Corps Marshal vowed to sustain the THEMES Plus agenda of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu which is geared towards making Lagos habitable for business through the promotion of general environmental cleanliness in the State.

The KAI Boss also sounded a note of warning to sellers and buyers of styrofoam food packs as enforcement which began on Monday has resulted in multiple confiscations by operatives of the Agency across the State.

Reiterating the need for those engaged in street trading and hawking to desist from breaching the State’s Environmental Laws, the KAI Marshal declared that there would be consequences for defaulters.

Cole also admonished residences in Lagos to have a valid waste collection contract with an approved PSP operator to foster appropriate refuse disposal, stressing the need for prompt settlement of LAWMA waste bills to avoid prosecution by the courts.

The Lagos State Government has pleaded with citizens that they should use the pedestrian bridges when they want to cross expressways in the state. It announced that people who run across expressways will be arrested and might have to pay a fine.

But some citizens complained that criminals, traders and homeless people have taken over the pedestrian bridges and that it is not safe to use them. Therefore, the Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment promised that security agents will be deployed to remove people from these bridges and that the bridges will be properly illuminated.

In order to make the pedestrian bridges across Lagos safe for pedestrians, operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (KAI), this morning, resumes clearing of miscreants squatting inside Oshodi pedestrian bridges.

Government of no thinking

Let this inmate be farmers, tailor, cobbler
Make them useful before you return them to the society with little money and see how things will flourish

Lol.

They should rot.

People who wake up with no direction and disturb others who have direction.

They should be jailed for 2 years.

U see am too? And their case may not even be heard next month if the judge or most likely, the prosecutors don't turn up. They will be returned to the custody till another date. Even if their case is heard next month, will it be concluded?

They shouldn't make themselves available for anyone, simple as ABC.
But I don't think you want to be on the side of these people who wouldn't hesitate to stab you to death if you resist them from robbing you

This is what you get when a country fails with human capital development of its citizens. All pedestrian bridges and government parks are currently being occupied by destitute, gangs members, weed smokers. I got to Marwa bustop on lekkiphase one and decided to be a good citizen and use the pedestrian bridge. The dreadlocks looking guys, smoking weeds I saw made me to descend down quickly. The particular pedestrian bridge is always deserted, especially in the afternoon. One supposedly olosho, looking so weird, was there vomiting... .only God knew what was worrying her

If you open your mind a little, you will see that grammatical mistakes often bring much needed creativity to a discussion.

He wrote stoled, we both know what he meant. Then look how close it is to stool, which means to defecate. Which they did, because they defecated on the democratic process. See the genius of the statement. Lastly, we abuse the oyinbo language, which is beautiful as it is the language of the whip and settler colonialists. Double gbosa.

Instead of putting them in jail, why not on the farm? 🤔.

It will benefit the nation more if the FG can have a large farmland where petty criminals can be send to to work. The will in turn be farming for the nation to provide foods for the nation. They will be pay daily too, and also be well trained so that after their jail term, they can be on their own as a farmer.

I think this will benefit the nation more than keeping them locked up, and running the taxpayers money on them.

My one cent.
