Why Don't Billionaires Set Up 'Soup Kitchens' Offering Free Food Like In UK? by Reflect7: 8:17am On Feb 22
In the days when there was starvation and malnutrition in the Victorian and Edwardian era of England, in the days of Oliver Twist and Charles Dickens, the rich would establish what were called 'Soup Kitchens' where the poor would queue up and be served plates of light soup served with bread.

If I was Dangote, Otedola, and all these guys, I would do just that.

Just establish some joints and ensure that people queue orderly for their turn.

Even rich folks that are not as rich as Dangote and co can still come together and contribute to establish a Soup Kitchen.

Soup Kitchen, Victorian England

They even still have such places TODAY in England, for the poorest who can't afford a meal.

We need to develop that sort of caring mindset for our fellow Nigerians.

That's because they cannot shoulder the responsibility of your irresponsible government. Besides, what was the population of the UK at the time? Then, compare it to 250 million Nigerians.

If Nigéria was a serious country, we would have pegged our population long ago and anyone caught begging by the roadside without deformity would be sent straight to prison.

In summary, those billionaires cannot start feeding everyone in a society with an irresponsible government where shameless begging for alms is an entrenched tradition of many tribes. They will bring down those billionaires to their level in a matter of months!

You are as stingy as the other commenter mentioned. Pooling money can be performed by any set of people. Fifty Naira from twenty individuals will result in one thousand Naira. That is a meagre example compared to what individuals with drive can accomplish. Stop pushing a responsibility onto others which you can’t achieve by yourself.

So population is your excuse, plus government.

Was there no government in the UK when private rich people built soup kitchens for the poor?

USA has a bigger population than Nigeria, and Soup Kitchens were established during the Great Depression of the 1930s

So look for another excuse!

OH SHUT UP...

Even in the UK and the US, ordinary citizens and the middle classes were not the ones setting up soup kitchens.

Even today, they are not involved, and no one expects them to be.

IT WAS THE RICH CLASSES AND THE ARISTOCRACY who established them.

If you don't know, I'll educate your dumbass.

So look for another excuse!

1. Irresponsible government
2. Begging as a deep-rooted culture
3. High unproductive population

I raised three points but you chose to focus on one. Again, you cannot compel a man who has one brain, two hands and two legs like you to take up the responsibility of your irresponsible government.

If you care so much about poor people, set up the food depot and start helping people.

FYI, every famous wealthy man with a legitimate source of wealth gives to society....there are no exceptions. The question should be, "What are you doing to help?"

Actually, you low IQ freak, ordinary folks like us help out the less fortunate on an INDIVIDUAL basis. That's how it works.

Those with MILLIONS OR BILLIONS OF DOLLARS SHOULD do more than that, and in sane societies were selfishness and greed are not the norm, THEY DO.

A big fat YAWWNNNN to your excuses.

You call yourselves ''christians'', ''muslims'', and all this rubbish.

What is the point of being a 'CHRISTIAN' when you can sit there and justify people sitting at home with billions of dollars in the bank while people are dropping dead from starvation around them and children are going to bed hungry??

Do you think your ''JESUS'' will accept your govt blaming excuses and finger pointing at the proverbial Gates of Heaven and Hell, when you start justifying your ignoring starving people when you had billions of dollars in your account?

You prove right the saying of ''JESUS'' that it is far easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven, because that money tends to turn you into little selfish beasts who forget that you're only here for a short while and are answerable to your Maker at the end of this life on Earth.

It is means Nigeria is in the Victorian Age. Just like I've been saying, the almajirization of Nigeia has fully manifested. The next stage is mop up of lands and traditional positions. You first heard it from me here.
Nigeria is like horror script very clear to those with commonsense but some how, most of the people within her can't seem to see how various stages are unfolding before them.

Indeed. Of course everyone WILL answer to their Maker at the end of all this.

What I know is that there is NO WAY that I would have billions of dollars in my account today, and not set up a feeding center for the poor and hungry, in this current crisis.

And those who have it MUST GIVE, and GIVE MORE.

Yea..
But the reality is that we’re all humans.. with different face .. Na so our mindset are differently wired..

As you can see from your thread.. some don’t even have the heart to help..

Some see it as government responsibility

Some see it from humanity aspect.. and are willing to give all

Some won’t mind to snap and stand with those he helped just for some reasons

We’re all humans

We align based on interest

Doesn’t matter. He did it.

That’s all that God wants.

Even those who give out of religious obligation or to please God, are doing it for Divine favours, so it’s all good.

If you are feeding hungry kids, you are not wasting your money. You are making spiritual deposits in your heavenly bank account.

Making your Maker happy.

That’s how the rich need to see it.

I don't think population is the problem. Brazil has 210 million people. But there are several places like that were they serve complete full meal even with fruit. This is the job of the government not individuals
