Islamiyat Oyefusi, the former deputy gubernatorial candidate for the Labour Party in the 2023 Lagos governorship election, has officially resigned from the party. In a letter titled 'Re: Resignation of membership from Labour Party,' addressed to her ward chairman, she expressed gratitude to Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour for the opportunity to be his running mate.

Oyefusi cited a misalignment with the current values of the Labour Party and declared that the time had come for her to move forward."

The excerpt from the letter states, “I am officially resigning from the Labour Party. The past 10 months in my political journey have been intriguing, and I am grateful to Almighty God for guiding me with good health and mercy.

"My appreciation goes to Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour for providing me with the political opportunity to serve as your deputy. However, I find myself no longer aligned with the current values of the Labour Party, prompting my decision to move forward.

"I want to express heartfelt thanks to my team and supporters across Lagos State and Nigeria, who dedicated their hard work during the challenging 2023 election period. Our collective achievements are noteworthy, and I am proud of what we accomplished. Special gratitude to the ObiDatti family and NCF for their unwavering support. It was an honor and privilege to share this journey with you.
