There is this case involving a a brother at a popular Pentecostal church, this brother was disciplined and suspended in the chuch, his crime was that he visited a lady alone at her home which was contrary to the church doctrine.

Now this man and the lady in question just completed a traditional wedding and bride price was paid the previous weekend.

The reason for the suspension being that the couple were yet to do the "white weedding" so technically, according to the church were not yet fully married after the trado.

My argument at the time was that, once a ceremony had been performed and the bride's parents had received the bride price, handed the lady over to the man, they are fully married and any other church wedding or ceremony should be regarded as mere formalities.

What do you think? Is the church justified in suspending the brother?

What about our parents who had no "white wedding", are we saying they are not fully married if we decide to side with the church?

What about a man and a woman who didn't do white wedding and started living together before they became members of your Church?

Payment of bride price and traditional marriage ceremony without a Church wedding can make a marriage.

But a Church wedding without payment of bride price is not marriage unless the girl's parents agree for the payment of bride price to take place any time after the wedding. This is like buying something on credit.
