Government just reduce the price of fuel, disel and revalue the naira and make the naira have value against the dollars and all of this will reduce the prices of food stuffs and goods and services and there will be no inflation and even a worker earnings 20k will not complain of hunger hardship suffering because the naira has value and there is no inflation |

Minimum wage should be determined by states. Constitutional amendment is needed here. Let each state attract the talent it deserves and reward them accordingly. This Nigerian pseudo federalism and joke should stop! 2 Likes 1 Share |

I like that Nwigbo's analysis on Enugu's situation. When it was 30k in 2019, painter buckets of food grains were averagely less than N500, now they're between 4k to 6k; decent house rent for 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom are now something like 300-350k and 400-600k respectively; before both were less than 400k. How many civil servant can afford a descent property if government decides to pay 60k or even 100k as the new minimum wage? Abeg, they rather pay 150-200k if they want to be stingy and continue live in their embezzlement lifestyles. Force it on all sectors in country to implement or go to jail. There should be review of new minimum wage every 2 years not 5 years, the country is getting worse day by day. And it should be state-based because the economic realities of each states differs. |

ufotunang: Because the state governors are looting the money and living a luxurious lifestyle. That's the fact, that that they can't pay. If the citizens are serious they will blockades shutdown the state and you will see those states can pay it. How much is brand-new Toyota Parado that they share and other allowances they enjoy or the over a billion security votes they collect every month and do nothing! Think about that. |

The comments here are troubling. So politicians can get millions in salaries and allowances and pensions but its difficult to pay minimum wage, right? I no see these comments when senate request for thier own millions o. And when they were approving billions for luxury cars. |

Richtaiwo:They would be inviting even worse inflation than Zimbabwe had at a time. I have said it severally that the solution is not increase in minimum wage but decrease in maximum wage earnable in the polity. Once you increase wages all other price indices go up, cancelling the effect. You are in effect carrying more money that has not enhanced ur purchasing power. 1 Like 1 Share |

Richtaiwo:That's how miserably foolish you are. The money will come from the various warehouses and underground tanks your governors and government officials hide away your money for termites to feast on rather than you having a chance to survival. |

Think9ja:We want total freedon as indigeneous people. Nigeria must be restructured & power decentrised or face disintegration. The politicians can accept to pay even N500,000 and still systematically increase the price of things to get back the money. We no longer trust them. |

NOGRUDGES: You say all of these because you're an outsider who don't know exactly what goes on within the civil service in Nigeria, and you're not alone in this kind of talk which is based on half truth. The truth of the matter is that corrupt Nigerian politicians are the major cause why most civil servants in the country are idle. Elected government officials in Nigeria both at the state and federal level don't like to follow due process , laid down procedure ,which ensures accountability . Most of them are there to steal for the short period of time they occupy those offices and don't want anyone to challenge or stop them. And so, instead of allowing civil servants to do the work for which they're employed, they bypass them and give it to outsiders, who will cover for them and muddle things up so that nothing is easily traced after their tenure has expired. At time in this country, the Ministry of works, especially at that state level were directly responsible for minor roads repairs, but they have been sidelined by corrupt politicians ruling the country. The people in those ministrys employed to carry out those minor repairs are doing nothing but still receiving salaries because the politicians know the truth: They caused it and so can't sack them . If you conplain, you can be sacked. So because of this , civil servants have learnt to keep quiet about what's going on and collect their monthly salaries which is not even enough compared what politicians are stealing everyday. |
