Who Sat And Watched My Infant Head When Sleeping On A Cradle Bed, and Tears of Sweet Affection Shed? MY MOTHER.

May The Good God Almighty (NATURE) Continue To Bless Your Grind.

My Mother, My Super Woman:

The Agonies of Growing Up As A Single Mother In Nigeria Can Never Be OVER-EMPHASIZED.

Just Like Many Other Women - My Mother Became Had To Become A Single Mother of 3 Children As Far Back Year 1998/1999 As I Can Historically Remember.

I was Just 8 Years of Age.

But I Can Still Remember CLEARLY How My Mum Had To Starve Herself Many Mornings And Evenings Just To Ensure That Myself And My Two Younger Siblings Ate Satisfactorily.

Nigeria Was HELL.

But She Did All Her Best To Hid That Part From Her Children.

However; As I Grew Older - As The First Born And Man of The Family; I Got Inquisitive To Know The Jobs That My Mum Engaged In To Provide Daily Food For Us All.

... And Then; I Noticed That My Mother Had To Shuffle Through Many Jobs Just To Upcharge Her Monthly Earnings As A Teacher.

She Baked,

She Sold Thrifts,

She Produces Locust Beans (Iru),

She Sold Petty Provisions,

She Worked With The Environmental Sanitation Agents To Keep Lagos Clean,

She Even Had To Go Through The THOROUGH TRAINING of The Neighbourhood's Watch During The Time of Governor Fashola

All of These She Did All Because She Had To MULTI-TASK As She Took Upon The Responsibities of Both A FATHER AND A MOTHER.

My Mind, Heart And Eyes Sobs As I Write These Histories; But This is What I Have To Do To Appreciate My Mother And Every Other SINGLE MOTHER Out There Raising A Child Or Children Particularly Under These HARSH AND HARD CONDITIONS Of Nigeria.

.... I Continue.

IYA Ni WURA Iyebiye....!

My Mother, My Gold....

Every Caring Mother In Nigeria Deserves All of The Accolades Especially Our Single Mothers Who Went Through The PAIN of Financing Their Children Through Secondary Schooling Up Till Tertiary Level.

Omo.... We Duff Our Hat For Una!

Double And Triple Twale for You All...!

As A Grown Man Who's Started His Own Family Too;

Now; I Can Tell What It Meant For $1 To Jump From 20 Naira To 150 Naira.

I Can Now Tell What It Meant For 1 Cup of Garri That You Normally Buy For 10 Naira Jump To 50 Naira.

What About Mobility To Your Places of HUSTLE...?

Vividly; Now - I See The Agony of Squeezing Out That EXTRA MONEY (That Should Normally Go For Preparing A Pot of Little Stew For Your Kids To Manage) To Pay The Conductors Yelling At Everyone in The MOLUE:

"Èwo Lé, Èwo lé - Pelú Change Yin oo"

"Ti ó ba Ní CHANGE, Ma Wóle ooo"...

What A Life Our Single Mothers Lived...

Shuttling Buses,
Running Helter Skelter To Put Food On The Table For Many of Us - When DADDY LEFT And Never Returned For Greener Pastures!
