The recent 3MTT collaboration with HerTechHub has resulted in the distribution of 370 laptops and 774 tablets to over 540,000 women who participated in two challenges that aimed to celebrate and enhance female representation in the technology workforce.

Challenge 1: CommuniTech Innovation Challenge for Women

The CommuniTech Innovation Challenge for Women is a platform designed to encourage the development of innovative solutions to local community problems using technology.

Participants were tasked with leveraging their technological ability to address real-world issues within their communities. This challenge did not only promote problem problem-solving solving skills but also indicated the potential impact of women in driving positive change through technology.

Challenge 2: Knowledge Showcase for Women – #IWD2024 Edition

In celebration of International Women’s Day 2024, 3MTT launched a special edition of the Knowledge Showcase exclusively for women. Participants were invited to share their learning experiences in a short video, displaying the diverse talents and achievements of women in the tech industry.

The prizes for this challenge were substantial, including:

370 laptops
774 tablets
100 internship openings

Impact on Women in Technology

The collaborative efforts of 3MTT and HerTechHub has shown a significant step towards narrowing the gender gap in the technology sector. By providing tangible resources and recognition, these initiatives encourage women to pursue their interests, overcome challenges, and contribute meaningfully to the evolving technology.

About the 3MTT Phase Two

The Honourable Minister of Communications, Innovation, & Digital Economy, Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani, has officially launched the second phase of the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) initiative. This project aims to train a total of 270,000 Fellows, marking a significant expansion following the successful completion of the first phase that trained 30,000 individuals.

Scaling Impact Across the Nation

The second phase, often referred to as the pilot phase, is set to reach 10% of its overall target, with the ultimate goal of upskilling and empowering participants to actively contribute to the global digital economy. The initiative has received a massive response, attracting approximately 1.8 million registrations from prospective trainees spread across the 774 local governments in Nigeria.

Empowering Through Education

The Honourable Minister reiterated the importance of providing cutting-edge content that allows Fellows to learn at their own pace. So as to link participants with physical learning locations in proximity to their residences.The projected timeline for the courses spans 12 to 18 months, allowing for a comprehensive learning experience.

Support to Entrepreneurship and Innovation

The Ministry is actively engaging with partners to provide support for Fellows interested in entrepreneurship. Dr. Tijani poinetd this collaborative effort, stating, “We are working with partners to ensure that those who want to go the route of entrepreneurship can be supported to kick off their small businesses and start their technology startups.”

3MTT as a Catalyst for Transformation

Launched in November, 2023, the 3MTT initiative stands as the world’s largest talent accelerator, focusing on read dressing government services in Nigeria and creating a dynamic workforce capable of spearheading technological advancements across critical sectors.
