Where I come from, the norm is to give the surname the father bears to the child!
oftentimes this name is passed down generations, this often pave ways for the children
who are identified the moment the name is mentioned; as people could easily trace
such a name back to the family.

However, I am at a T-junction. Where my wife come from, she believes it is the father's name
that should be given to the child; that is, rather than giving my surname to my child, it is my own
personal name that our child should bear since I am the father, and for my own name not to be forgotten!

I really love my wife's idea, however, as unpopular as I am, when travelled out of my state and resided in
two states here in Nigeria at a time, my family name paved way for me as people who heard my
surname traced me back to my father, and i enjoyed some privileges.

Please Nairalnders, what would you do in my shoe? how did you name your children, and why?

Your culture supercedes the culture of where your wife comes from.

Blame the wife.

Women have ways of destroying a happy family.

Hmmm you are right, it paved way for me.
but what is the place of the fathers' name (me)?
does that not give room for it to fade over time?
that is where I am confused.
anyway i got your point, thanks.

Don’t allow any man of God to anoint your child, less your child end up in the streets smoking weeds all about

Your own don dey too much abeg.
Why are you trying to poison his heart towards his wife. Do men have monopoly of knowledge for women not to make decisions or offer advice?
God created man and woman in His infinite wisdom to complement one another, you are working overtime for the devil sowing seeds of discord when you make such posts.

Haba.
