Common Types of Mistakes

The following are common types of mistakes that can happen to anyone during JAMB registration or data entry:

Change of Course/Institution: Sometimes, candidates may realize they want to pursue a different course or enroll in a different institution after submitting their JAMB registration.

Change of Name: Errors in names, such as misspellings or incomplete names, can occur during registration and need correction.

Change of Date of Birth (DOB): Accidental input of incorrect birth dates can lead to discrepancies that require correction.

Change of Gender: Mistakes in indicating gender can occur and need rectification.

Change of State/L.G.A: Candidates may need to update their state or local government area (LGA) due to relocation or inaccuracies.

How to Correct Mistakes
This section will provide you with step-by-step procedures on how to correct mistakes on your JAMB data.

One: Change of Course/Institution

Create a Profile: Sign up as a new user or log in if you’re an existing user on the JAMB portal.

Access Correction of Data: Select “Correction of Data” from the available services.

Generate Transaction ID: Upon selection, a Transaction ID is generated for the service.

Review and Confirm Details: Review the information displayed on the confirmation page, noting the Transaction ID.

Choose Payment Gateway: Select your preferred payment method and complete the payment process.

Provide Examination Details: Enter the year of examination and your JAMB registration number.

Update Course/Institution: After payment, update your preferred course and institution.

Submission: Submit your application, and JAMB will process it accordingly

Two: Correction of Names

The accuracy of your name on your JAMB profile is vital for identification and administrative purposes. Here’s a guide on how to request a correction of names, including spelling errors or errors in arrangement:

Create or Log In to Your Profile: Access the JAMB portal and create a profile if you’re a new user. For existing users, log in using your credentials.

Navigate to Correction of Data: Once logged in, select “Correction of Data” from the sidebar to access the correction services.

Select Names Correction: Choose “Names” from the available correction options.

Generate Transaction ID: Upon selecting the names correction service, a Transaction ID will be generated for the transaction. Make a note of this ID for future reference.

Review and Confirm Details: Review the details displayed on the confirmation page, including the Transaction ID. Ensure that all information is accurate before proceeding.

Choose Payment Gateway: Select your preferred payment gateway and complete the payment process.

Provide Examination Details: After payment, provide the year of examination and your JAMB registration number as required.

Update Name Details: Once the information is verified, your current name details will be displayed. Provide the correct name details in the provided boxes.

Print Indemnity Form: After submission, an Indemnity Form will be displayed for printing. Print the form as it will be required for approval.

Institution Approval: Take the filled indemnity form to your institution for approval.

Submission to JAMB State Office: Your institution will be responsible for submitting the approved form to the JAMB state office on your behalf.

Notification of Approval: Once JAMB receives the approved form, it will be uploaded into your profile, and you’ll receive a notification confirming the update.

Processing by JAMB: JAMB will process your application, and if approved, your name details will be changed as requested.

Three: Correction of Date of Birth
