AN OPEN LETTER TO THE GOVERNOR

Office of the Executive Governor,
Taraba State,
16th March 2024,

Your Excellency,

SUBJECT: URGENT APPEAL TO BRING AN END TO KILLINGS IN SOUTHERN TARABA, ESPECIALLY USSA, TAKUM AND DONGA LGA

I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. I am writing to you as a concerned citizen of Taraba State, deeply troubled by the persistent and heart-wrenching incidents of violence and loss of innocent lives in Southern Taraba, particularly in the Ussa, Takum, and Donga Local Government Area.
Your Excellency, the urgency of this matter cannot be overstated. The relentless attacks carried out by bandits, purportedly linked to herders, have left our communities in a state of constant fear and turmoil. Families have been torn apart, livelihoods have been decimated, and the social fabric of our society has been severely shaken. This has gone on for far too long, and the time has come for us to collectively address this grave issue. The current state of affairs demands swift and comprehensive action. The lives of our fellow citizens are at stake, and the fabric of our society is being torn apart. Our children live in constant fear, and our communities are living under a shadow of uncertainty. We must restore a sense of security and stability in our region so that our people can go about their daily lives without the haunting fear of untimely death.

During the campaign season, Your Excellency, you made a solemn promise to prioritize the security and well-being of the citizens of Taraba State. Your words resonated with hope, and many of us placed our trust in your leadership with the belief that positive change was imminent. As you continue to steer our beloved state towards progress and development, I implore you to remember this commitment and act decisively to bring an end to the killings in Ussa, Takum, and Donga local government areas.

I commend the efforts that your administration has already put in to address various challenges in the state. Your commitment to infrastructure development, education, healthcare, and other sectors is evident and commendable. However, the issue of security remains an urgent priority, and I humbly urge you to intensify your efforts in this regard.

Your Excellency, I write this letter not out of criticism, but out of a genuine concern for the well-being of our fellow citizens and the prosperity of our state. I believe that with your leadership and determination, we can create an environment of safety, unity, and progress for all Tarabans.

In conclusion, I express my heartfelt gratitude for your service to Taraba State and its people. Your dedication to our state's growth and betterment is deeply appreciated. As you continue to lead us forward, I urge you to remember the promise of security you made during the campaign and take urgent steps to end the killings in Southern Taraba.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. May your leadership bring about positive change and brighter days for all Tarabans.

Sincerely,
Comrade LODIYA ANDE, Ussa LGA Coordinator for Agbu kefas support projects2023, also PRESIDENT, NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF JUKUN STUDENTS (NAJUS)..07087636144..09062136676
