Iwo was the first Yoruba land to accept Islam followed by Iseyin, Oyo, Ilorin

It survice to say that Islam is a traditional religion in Yoruba land

This particular Iwo king also served as Imam of Iwo central mosque and Id praying ground during his reign
His Abore also became Muslim and served as his ladani (one who calls to prayer in the mosque)

What Bowen?
Iwo had her history before Bowen comes to existence, Bowen did not bring any developments to Iwo in my own view.

Life is just an era...
See such pictures will make you to enjoy your life and quarrel less. Enjoy while it lasts. It obvious no eternity.
A whole era reduced to an ordinary picture 😭😭. Many had no privilege of being captured with a camera.

At some point a set of people who surf this Nairaland won't even be remembered again.

The town where they slaughter people freely for rituals or another Iwo?
Rubbish. Only God knows how Bowen found its way there. Just ask any Yoruba person about Iwo? No good reputation.

Nazareth of Yoruba land.

Yoruba accept Islam before uthman Dan fodio was given birth to

The Yoruba see Islam from a different perspective compared to Northerners. Several Yoruba families with Muslim, Christian and Traditionalists as members were able to live and do things together peacefully without any rancour or killings

The Yoruba view of Islam would not have allowed them to be susceptible to the tricks of Usman Dan Fodio who harnessed what was supposed to be a religious revival to install himself and his family members as Sultan and Emirs across the North and lord it over the native owners of the lands.

Uthman Dan fodio was a reformer. He did not bring Islam to northern part of Nigeria. The hausas were already practicing Islam before he came.

They look unhappy and conquered.
Zoom in to check their demeanour.
I sometimes wonder why humans must subjugate one another. You conquer and inflict unnecessary hardship on your subject.
When will it stop.

First mosque in Lagos was built in 1770 - 1780. So if Iwo got Islam in 1800, means it was not the first Yorubaland to get Islam.

Must be Oba Momodu Lamuye. His facial features are quite interesting and distinctly different from those of the surrounding people. I almost want to say he was probably a non-native, but Momodu Lamuye's life story makes it clear he was a son of the soil. Looks are indeed deceptive.
