For those who are dead set on migrating out of the country, you may have to think outside the box in order to accomplish your goal of reaching your ideal destination. The ideal destinations for most Nigerians are the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, Australia and to some extent Ireland. This is understandable as those countries have the largest number of Nigerians outside Africa. However, migrating to those countries is a VERY expensive venture. Not only that, bar Canada, citizenship in those countries is a very long process.

The goal for any Nigerian who intends to Japa should be to attain citizenship which will give them freedom of movement and certain rights. No point spending so much money on student and work visas only for you to end up back in Nigeria.

There are many ways to go about this. For example, I know someone from my time in NYSC who acquired Finnish citizenship. He obtained his first degree in Nigeria before moving to Finland to further his education. At the time, tuition fees were free for international students. He also obtained his citizenship within 6-7 years. He then moved to the UK after his NYSC before Brexit. He did all this without paying N20 million on tuition fees and he has freedom of movement within the EU.

Now, you might say that Europe is now very difficult to migrate to which is true. That's why you need to look at EU countries that guarantee easy visas and use them as a step up to the big boys like Germany or France. South America is another option. Citizenship in Brazil is guaranteed within 3 years or so. With a Brazilian passport, you can travel to 173 countries visa free. Also Brazilian passport holders have freedom of movement live in Portugal. That's your entry to the EU right there. In Chile, citizenship is guaranteed in less than 5 years I believe and Chilean passport holders can work (for a certain time) in the States under a trade agreement.

Remember, the goal is to acquire citizenship and not spend more than your budget. Don't spend so much to JAPA only to cry that abroad is tough and you don't have their passport to show for it.

If not for our government.

Why do we need second passport? We should be proud as a Nigerians... but dere are many factors pursuing our citizens out of the country...

Now it's even extremely expensive to japa in peace...
People should be careful exploring South American countries... they hav dere own mess... go tru studies or work visa to help you settle quick...

Second passport isn't necessarily for travelling but for working rights which our stupid government ought to have gotten for Nigerians. For instance, young chileans have a work visa for them to work in the US. They have a work visa in Australia for them. They have a working holiday visa in Canada and are exempt from LMIA with regards to employment alongside a host of other benefits. This isn't just Chileans even Colombians and Peruvians have the same privileges on their passport all because their government signed trade deals with these countries which can provide some upliftment for the young people. What did our own government do. Even Dubai ban they can't reverse.

Most of our politicians, pastors and celebrities have second passport. The Nigeria elites know Nigeria has no future and have secured citizenship somewhere for themselves and families pending the doomsday.

The remaining that haven't gotten have strategic investments outside Nigeria as safety nets. Capital flight through corruption that have left that country (flowing out) is estimated at 600bn USD currently. This is evident in Abacha loots that's being returned from time to time.

Nigeria's current trajectory is [b] implosion [b]. If Venezuela with the largest crude oil reserve can scatter and now an economic basket case what makes anyone think it can't happen to Nigeria? If naira depreciated by 90% from 2014 to 2024, what makes anyone think that it can't depreciate again by 90% in the next 8 yrs given the fact that siphoning of public funds are at all time high now by Emilokan and his gangs?

Like Paul Adefarasin said last year, have plan B!

Do you believe our government can also sign this trades? Yes dey can't but THEY WILL NEVER!... Why? Because they are naturally wicked and selfish...

It's only Nigeria politicians that will say all youth should not travel out and remain in the country... but this same politicians kids are enjoying in the abroad...

Sometimes they are not happy when they see Nigerians at the airport running away... they want Nigerians to remain in the country and swim in poverty...

Who so ever have enough funds should qualify japa before dem use depression finish ham

no western country will sign such deals with Nigeria. Because people will japa and not return home. Ordinary visit visa to USA majority never returned why will they now do temporary work visas. The ruling class are happy if you japa because you will still remit money back home.

If u tell people the reality dem go say u don’t want them to come. Two Ontario colleges have been called out for offering admission in mickey mouse courses . Too many students ( who borrowed school fees or did arrangee proof of funds) cant find jobs as the economy is not doing well. Its hell for most of them right now. But me i no dey put mouth.

Its better to go learn French and apply for express entry with it instead of all these exploitative student visa. But dem no go hear

Bros, having a second passport has nothing to do with the Government or being proud of being a Nigerian. Messi is a dual Argentine/Spanish national but he's very Argentine to the core. Most British actors in Hollywood hold dual nationality but they are still proud of being British. A lot of Brits are acquiring second passports due to Brexit despite the fact that the British passport is one of the strongest passports in the world. Many rich Russians, Chinese and Eastern Europeans are buying second passports due to the limitation of their own countries passports. Most Latin American countries have visa-free access to Europe despite the fact that a lot of those countries are economically and politically unstable. Do you know that most countries in the Middle East bar UAE and Israel need visas to travel to most parts of the world despite their wealth?

Dual nationality is a global phenomenon that is here to stay. We are in a globalized world where freedom of movement is seen as an essential right. Many countries are gradually amending their nationality laws to enable dual nationality. Open your mind to what's happening globally. You talk about being proud to be a Nigerian but most don't even like each other simply because of tribal differences. Let's be honest with ourselves.

Finally, no sane
