Holding a PhD in Mass Communication from the University of Benin, Olorede's research focuses on various aspects of media dynamics, including agenda-setting, news framing, and journalistic writing. His doctoral dissertation, completed between 2017 and 2022, delves into critical issues shaping contemporary media landscapes, showcasing his analytical prowess and research acumen.

Prior to his doctoral studies, Olorede earned a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Mass Communication from the prestigious University of Lagos, where he was recognized for his academic excellence and awarded the prestigious Postgraduate Teaching Assistantship Scholarship in 2013. His commitment to advancing knowledge in the field is further underscored by his Bsc, Higher and Ordinary National Diplomas in Mass Communication from the University of Ilorin and Osun State Polytechnic, respectively.

He also obtained a Diploma in Journalism from the International Institute of Journalism, Abuja in 2002.

Beyond academia, Olorede has amassed a wealth of professional experience across various sectors of the media industry. His roles as Editor-in-Chief of the Science and Technology (S&T) Magazine at the Federal Polytechnic Offa and as a Reporter for New Nigeria Newspapers reflect his hands-on experience in media practice. Moreover, his tenure as Editor of LEN Magazine at the University of Ilorin underscores his commitment to nurturing the next generation of media professionals.

Additionally, Olorede's engagement in corporate affairs and public relations is noteworthy. He holds memberships of many professional bodies: Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (MNIPR), Association of Communication Scholars and Professional of Nigeria, Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON), hence able to bring a strategic perspective to the intersection of evolving media, business, advertising, and public relations.

His contributions to political campaigns and organizations further attest to his versatile skill set and leadership abilities. He has served as a member and leader of different political media development: Osun State Coordinator, Tinubu Network Organization (TNO); Member, Media and Digital Communication Directorate, BAT Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Osun State Council; Member, Directorate of Support Groups Coordination for Tinubu/Shetima PCC (South West); Member, Strategy and Operation Committee, Gov. Adegboyega Oyetola (frm.) Reelection Campaign Council; Member, Media and Publicity Committee, Gov. Adegboyega Oyetola (frm.) Reelection among others.
Olorede's scholarly contributions extend beyond the classroom. As an author, he has published several books and academic papers that have enriched the discourse in mass communication. He has attended and presented many papers on the varied aspects of media in different conferences - national and International. He also has over 100 articles published in national dailies.
Olorede has authored three books, contributed to several others. Specifically, his book, "English for Journalistic Writing and Mass Communication: Rules and Rudiments," serves as a valuable resource for students and practitioners alike, offering insights into the nuances of effective communication in media contexts.

Moreover, Olorede's research output, including his dissertation on "Global News Flow," demonstrates his capacity for critical inquiry and scholarly rigor. His forthcoming book, "Press Profile of Governor Oyetola’s Governance: A Memoir of Olorede’s Journalese," promises to offer valuable insights into media representations of political leadership and governance.

The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara State Engr. Dr. Kadiri Kamoru Oluwatoyin FNSE approved the appointment of Dr. Jimoh Olorede as Acting Head of Department of Strategic Communication and Media Studies on Monday, 29th January, 2024.
