Anambra's Security Crisis: A Failure Of Governance Under Soludo's Administration by ChumzyOma(f): 6:41pm On Mar 29
ANAMBRA STATE GOVERNMENT HAS FAILED ITS CITIZENRY BY ITS INABILITY TO ADDRESS THE STATE'S SECURITY CHALLENGES.

By Kamen Chuks Ogbonna

The recent stories of unknown gunmen attacks on a police station in Anaocha and other towns coupled with rampant incidents of kidnappings for ransom that have in turn brought about the present absence of nightlife in the state are all indices that point to the abysmal failure of the Soludo administration to secure the lives and properties of the residents of the state.

It is highly unacceptable that a state that earns billions in Naira every month from the federal allocation and the internally generated revenue insists on giving so little back to the people.

Governor Soludo's family resides in well-secured London where he has presently gone to for his Easter holidays and where he will also definitely retire to after his lacklustre tenure and one is tempted to ask, why do our political leaders especially those of the old order treat the masses with such disdain and wickedness?

FAAC disbursed the sum of 2.07 trillion naira to the three tiers of government in February 2024 from the total revenue generated in January 2024.

Anambra got 10.1 billion naira for the month of February alone (please, don't take my word alone, do your own fact check, and confirm).

The huge but largely shrouded-in-secret amount that the Soludo administration earns from its inhuman tax extortion on the poor masses is not part of the above-mentioned 10.1 billion Naira that it earned in February.

Yet Governor Soludo has refused to purchase security vehicles, equipment, and CCTV cameras to fight insecurity in Anambra State.

Community vigilante operatives are not left out of this deliberate fund starvation policy of the state government.
An act that so irked the Obi Of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Achebe (Agbogidi) that he penned a letter to the state government lamenting its decisions to fiddle with irrelevant issues like banning traditional rulers while the state loses its commercial value to the neighbouring states like Asaba and recently Aba, safe towns with bubbling nightlife where our businessmen have since chosen as safe havens for their businesses.

Towns like Osumorghu, Lilu, Ihiala, Uli, and several others have been left to wallow in tears, blood, and pains, while the governor rather chose to hire more media hypemen to drown out the voices of the weeping masses with chants of "Solution is here".

Imagine chanting solution is here in an Anambra where nightlife has gone extinct and where human beings are pursued and carried away like Eagles carry chicks. The story became even more worrisome as human parts harvesters have since joined the fray, having noticed how easy it is for them to operate in Anambra.

While men and women of valour have since commenced deft moves to rescue the state from this clueless administration, firmly rejecting the desperate offers of filthy lucre and the promises of elective political offices that the governor has no intention of keeping. The few that are presently collecting the crumbs are shouting themselves hoarse with "solution is here" chants while remembering to avoid venturing into those towns that their solution governor has since ceded to the unknown gunmen and also scampering into their homes once it is 7 pm to avoid becoming preys to criminal elements that have taken over the entire state including areas around the government house premises itself.

One is left to imagine what could have become of our dear Anambra had the Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District not made the decision to venture into the arena of security having seen the pains of the people and made decisive inroads towards securing parts of the state.

The other day, the labour party had to take their convention to Nnewi, the safest city in Anambra presently in order to avoid falling into the hands of the criminal elements enjoying a field day all over the state some of whom comprises the various day time uniform wearing bloodsucking thugs recruited by the Soludo Government in preparation for elections next year. The cold-hearted manner with which they crippled the kneecaps of their own APGA supporter that goes by the alias Mgbiligba while videoing it, leaves one with no doubt that these are also members of the notorious unknown gunmen ravaging the state and probably collaborating with the government officials. This may be the reason why there is belief in some quarters that Governor Chukwuma Soludo may have since ceded some towns to them to administer as they wish.

Security of lives and properties is one of the most cardinal requirements that the people expect from their state governor and that is part of the reason why the detached masses watched in silence and disappointment as hired vuvuzelas made noise about the below-average performance of the State government during the two years in office celebration.

The massive boycott of the two-year celebration event by the critical stakeholders in the state including the three Senators from the state, the entire former governors of the state, the first-class traditional rulers in the state, the Archbishops, Bishops, CEOs of the two flagship airlines in Nigeria (Airpeace and United Air) to mention but a few despite the invitation by the state government, should make any serious governor carry out an internal stock-taking and tender an unconditional apology to Ndi Anambra.

The entire state is yearning for a return to our Anambra of old, where one can drive from Ihiala by 9 pm in the night to Awka without fear and pass several fun spots on the way.

A new Anambra is possible, but with a homeboy whose palatial home is in Anambra and whose investments are also in the state.

The time has indeed come for ndi Anambra to stop electing briefcase executives who reside abroad and start electing homeboys who feel and understand where it pinches them the most.

The entire state is presently agog with the numerous empowerment materials from one man who is just a legislator (Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah, CON).

Imagine how it would be if this same man was the Governor of the State, managing the huge resources accruing to the state that is presently rumoured to be finding its way to London in the United Kingdom.

Ndi Anambra, kpoo nu onwe unu meeting makana obidoru taa, bidoru gboo.

Of course, we all know that not even one inch of Anambra territory will be left in the hands of bandits in a state where Senator Dr Ifeanyi Ubah is the governor.

A New Anambra Under An Idea Bearer Is Possible With The Collective Efforts and Determination Of The Masses.

For when the righteous is in power, the people truly rejoice.
