Especially with the prominent Politicians like Buhari, Atiku,Elrufai, Lamido, Yaradua, etc
Who are the Hausas, who are the Fulani and what is the relationship between them and lastly, what is the fine line between them.
Please note this is strictly for education purposes

First there isn't actually a tribe called Hausa, it's only a language spoken in 14 African Countries. The north has upward of 400 Languages and Ethnic groups, Fulani is one of the minority few. For their agenda to flourish they had to lump up Hausa and Fulani and thereby appoint Fulanis as Emirs for the sake of power broking

Stop misleading people please.

The Hausa people or tribe are an ethnic group that lives in the northwestern region of Nigeria and the southern region of Niger. The Fulani people are another ethnic group that also inhabits these regions. While the Hausa population is much larger, some Fulani have managed to position themselves as a ruling class among the Hausa.

The Hausa are a native ethnic group in West Africa. They speak the Hausa language, which is the second most spoken language after Arabic in the Afro-Asiatic .

The Hausas are one of the largest tribe in Africa, they are in almost all Africa countries, and the HAUSA language is arguably the second Most spoken language in Africa if not the Most spoken in Africa.

The Hausas are usually peaceful, and contented people, they don't have quest for power at all, they prefer to live a simple life,Many people mistakes many minority tribe to be HAUSA.

because of their simplicity, the Fulani finds their Way into HAUSA Land, and intertwined themselves with the Hausas, because the HAUSAs doesn't care about Power, the Fulanis tool advantage, and position themselves in position of power.

You won't believe if I told you no single Hausa have been President in Nigeria till date.

How to recognize Fulani, they are usually skinny, and light skinned with curly hair.

They are predominantly herders, and carry sticks about..

Hey Ellalina, na correct question you ask, and e dey important for understanding the complex tapestry of Nigerian ethnicity and politics. The Hausa and the Fulani people are two of the most influential groups in Nigeria, especially in the northern part of the country.

To start, the Hausa people na one of the largest ethnic groups in Africa, and dem get a long history of kingdom and empire building wey date back hundreds of years. Their culture, language (Hausa), and religion (Islam) dey very dominant in the northern region of Nigeria.

On the other hand, the Fulani people originally na pastoralists and cattle rearers wey migrate across West Africa. Over time, dem come settle in various parts of the region, including northern Nigeria, where dem blend with the Hausa people through marriage, trade, and shared religion, which na Islam too.

Regarding the politicians you mention like Buhari, Atiku, El-Rufai, Lamido, Yar'Adua, and so on, e dey a bit complex because some of them get mixed Hausa and Fulani heritage. For example, President Muhammadu Buhari and Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar are of Fulani descent. This blending of lines na part of why the distinction between Hausa and Fulani can sometimes dey blur for politics and social relations.

The relationship between the Hausa and Fulani people na one wey dey rooted in centuries of interaction, marriage, and shared Islamic faith. This long history of intermingling don lead to a situation where the two groups dey often referred to together as "Hausa-Fulani," especially in the context of Nigerian politics and social dynamics.

The "fine line" between them mainly dey in their origins and traditional lifestyles: Hausa as historically settled farmers and city dwellers, and Fulani as pastoralists. However, because of their long history of living together and intermarrying, the distinction is not always clear-cut, especially in the modern context where many individuals and families identify with both heritages.

I will simply put it this way, the Hausas are one of the 3 predominant tribes in Nigeria, habiting the Northern part of Nigeria from time immemorial, Fulanis are never part of Nigeria from the fraudulent amalgamation in 1914.they came to the North with disguised religion to penetrate the Hausa tribe but actually they arent a devoted worshipers of the said religion. More insight into who the Fulanis really are can be found under Uthsman dan fodio speech in 1960 just 12 days after the fake independence October 12th.Read more also about Ahmadu Bello speeches , you will be shocked how sofisticated the Fulanis are The difference between Fulani and Hausa is clear as 7up.

What you are saying doesn't add up at all, okay for example I know of the Bayajidda Legend and the narrative of the Hausa Bakwai
They aren't referred to as Hausas originally but Hausa speakers:
That is
Daura
Kano
Katsina
Zaria (Zazzau/Zegzeg)
Gobir
Rano
Hadejia (Biram)

Also we know of Hausa Banza meaning Hausa Bastard or Illegitimate States based on the fact that they called them their slaves, this includes;

Zamfara
Kebbi
Yauri
Gwari
Kwararafa
Nupe

The historical narrative doesn't add up at all, my fact finding made me realize that it was created solely for the purpose of control and nothing more. The Fulani updating the Oral Myth passed from Generation to generation.

The Question is this how come Nupe are considered to be Hausas when they don't speak Hausa, how come Gwari are considered as Hausas when they don't speak Hausa.
Bauchi alone as a State has 78 different languages.

I remember coming in contact with a Young Man, a native of Katsina who told me he isn't an Hausa neither a Fulani and I was shocked.

I repeat again Hausa is just a language spoken even in Sudan and Eritrea nothing more than that. The only sad part of it is that many northerners have lost their ethnicity and originality to the invasion of the Berbers who came in to establish the Hausa and Fulani kingdom

The Hausa and Fulani are one and the same, the hausa- Fulani tribe have become one entity, albeit the ruling class of the hausa-fulani tribe as more Fulani heritage

So which tribe is sarkin yaji from, who institutionalised islam in Kano in the 14th century? Was he a Berber?,how can there be a language and no tribe native to that language?

The states you called are like any other large tribe in Nigeria such as the Yoruba or Igbo with different sections ,people must understand that a tribe doesn't have to be from one ancestor.

Sarkin Yaji some historical narrative shows that he was a Berber while some referred to him coming from Bagdad, present day Iraq. That doesn't interest me much. My question has been Why is it that despite that a major part of Northern are Hausas and yet have their over 400 different Languages.

That means the attribution of their being Hausa is because they speak Hausa, it's one thing to be able to speak a language it is another thing to belong to an ethnicity.

Hausa is spoken in Ghana, Cote D Voire, Eritrea and about 12 other countries does that make them Hausas. The answer should be no.

It's just mere unifying of the people which was carefully packaged and established by the Conquerors of the People and further instituted by the Colonial Masters for the purpose of Control

What am saying is that, there's bound to be native Hausa tribe, probably even if their tribe is smaller than it is portrayed, there's got to be a native Hausa tribe.there cannot be a language without its native speakers, just like Latin was native to the Romans but was spoken at a time in virtually all of Europe. There are native Hausa's but they might not be as large as people claim.

As for sarkin yaji ,according most historical accounts he learnt Islam from Algerian Berber traders, therefore he was most likely a native ,so the claim that he was a foreigner is highly unlikely.

Stop this oga, if I speak Yoruba, that means am from Yoruba ethnic groups, if am speaking Igbo as my first language that means am from Igbo tribe, If I speak fufulde thats means am Fulani, a Kanuri man from Bornu Nigeria have there's own Language too,

Even in Yoruba we still have different dialects that if you are not attentive you might think thats another language entirely... there is Hausa as a Tribe and also as a Language

People need to stop repeating this. It is wrong. There are people whose ethnic identity is Hausa, hence there is a “tribe” called Hausa. (Don’t like that word tribe; prefer to say ethnic group or ethnicity.)

In addition to these ethnic Hausas, there are also millions of Hausa-speaking people who are not ethnic Hausas.

..

There are no hard and fast rules for identifying Fulani people based on appearance. The light-skinned, skinny, curly hair thing has been overblown, especially by European colonial writers.

Many Fulani people I have met don’t conform to the stereotypes. Atiku Abubakar for instance is darkskinned, isn’t skinny and doesn’t have curly hair.
