Last week or about 10days ago, I bought Jumbo bread for 2k but today it's 1700.

To my suprise, the one of 1k was sold 1,100

I don't know how they come to that but that's the reality.

Price of food isn't just going to drop and this is not about Tinubu.
Naira started dropping like a month ago.

Sellers aggressively stocked up their warehouses when Naira climb to N1700-1800 thinking it will climb further, so wait for sometime, some of these people already have 3months worth of items stocked up and they will always sell at the price they bought
now sice they bought at 1800 per dollar over a month now was the price then not supposed to stay if its not coming down.... e no go better for amost of those importers and manufactures ... what they have before will vanish infront of them for taking advantage of people just like we dey swear for government too ... like leader like masses ... same thing happen then when their was scarcity of cash ... use 2k collect3k ...crazy people

Those that are importing have already bought things when dollar was N1800, just because dollar dropped doesn't mean they will also drop their price. Wait for few more weeks to 2months when they will buy again at low price.

The Aboki man in ur street stocked up his shop, the warehouse where he is buying his goods also stocked up their warehouse, the Aboki will empty his shop, then still buy from the warehouse, those people will empty their warehouses again before they start importing again at 1200
why did price keep increasing if dollar started coming down a month ago? why is prices increasing? e no go better for all of una ... that yeye profit na cancer them go use am treat finish ... wicked people ...

But existing stocks bought at cheaper could be sold at inflated rate for short run abnormal profit. Nigerian are greedy and dubious. USD is fallen , price of goods should return to normal price.

We are facing a 2 headed hydra,
One is the rising of fuel prices due to the removal of fuel subsidy and the other is Naira depreciation or increase of dollar exchange rate.
The increase of fuel prices is responsible for the rising cost of food items , and dollar to naira exchange rate only affects imported goods.
So the cost of food items will not reduce unless the fuel prices reduces.

The third part is imported inflation. There's global inflation. When you import, you import the inflation in the exporting country then the inflation in your country will add to it.

People using academic logic and theory to explain a situation driven by greed.

You go explain taya, Naija greed no get theoretical explanation and Naija resilience in the face of suffering no get logical explanation. That's why several international authorities have repeatedly failed in their 'always accurate' predictions when it comes to Nigeria's disintegration cry .

Dollar rises, Naija instantly raise the price of items he purchased wholesale at old price, thereby making a killing and smiling to the bank.

Dollar goes down, Naija refuse to sell claiming his stock was bought when dollar was high.

Did you share your profit with people or complain to anyone when you made a killing when dollar went up?

No academic theory about market forces can handle greed. Market forces of demand and supply rely on the integrity of the stakeholders. Naija street has no integrity! In such a barbaric system, sorry you can't run away from price control!

Nope it's not about dollar rather it is just the Nigerian factor. When I was telling people the hike in price has nothing to do with dollar some fools were arguing silly like they understood what is at play, oya dollar dey trade about 1200 something oya make price come down na.

Why are you guys so quick to insult people? This could still be written as "...some persons were arguing like they understood what is at play,..."

Please, let's learn to respect people. Whatsoever you don't want to be thrown at you, don't throw at others. Let's make this world a better place for others, by that, the world will in turn become a very good place for us. Just as advice.
