It might not actually be a mistake. He is working on reducing expenses.
Is the wife aware about? If they planned it together it will be successful.

so whats ur problem with him breaking away from the burden of norms placed by society?

if this is true, then that your friend deserves an applaud. for me, it is not about money but the fact he chose to break away from stereotype.

Cost of reception
Cost of DJ
Cost of Mc
Cost of food and drinks to be shared in Reception
Cost of decoration and what nots

Reception attract other unforeseen costs

If u calculate these costs, e go pay house rent for 3 years.

If the guy owns his own house.
The COST FIT BUY RICE AND OTHER CHOWS THAT WILL LAST 5MONTHS.

Some will say its because u r poor. I attended an Alhajis daughter wedding. Freaking billionaire

Outside his compound under few tents with no rice or common drinks
Only branded zobo, kunu and peppered puff puff.

Make sense die.

who introduced wedding in the first place? the most important aspect when it comes to marriage is the introduction between families followed by the dowry which is a unique gift for the virgin bride... any other thing is self-imposed costs and exaggeration...

why stress yourself or why would you be foolish to overburden yourself to take a loan in other to impress people who don't care about you? how does he doing the wedding or the "reception" guarantee the quality of that marriage? na because of una long throat and greed na why una dey impose all these shit on too couple's head not because you guys care for the couples... money wey he suppose invest, he go waste am on top wedding finish? marriage wey fit nor last... smh.. talk about misplaced priorities...
