This submission generated loads of reactions on Twitter which is really educating. I have learnt alot about some Igbos culture and the two most surprising it among it all are:

1. Girls staying back in their father house to give them male child.

2. Mothers marrying for their late sons. The said wife is free to go and get pregnant anywhere just to have children that will answer the late man's name.

Let me attach some screenshot from the tweet.

That position can be challenged in a court of law and the so called "sperms donor" will go home with the child

That's a different case. You guys should not misinform people.

Marying a single mum or pregnant woman is dfferent from your wife cheating on you and get pregnant for another man. In some part of Igbo land like Nsukka once the woman try such, the deity in the land will strike.

Perternity Fraud is a taboo in every part of Nigeria. Stop deceiving yourself

@ Op, If you like accept pertanity fraud from your wife. That's your personal choice and don't involve Igbo culture.

Yeah

These practices are true.

And I can tell you they are still valid today if anyone decides to practice it.

You are from Nsukka and you know that it’s only in Nsukka that deities strike the woman for cheating and not the generality of Igboland.

In fact, some women have protested that culture as misogynistic because why would your deity strike a woman that cheats but turns a blind eye to a husband that cheats on his wife?

So, don’t engage in blind argument but open your mind and learn what you don’t know about the generality of the Igbo culture.

Or are you now telling us that Nsukka culture is bigger than the culture of the whole Igboland?

Or that everyone else is wrong and you are the only one right?

The female daughter can't just choose or decide to stay back and give birth to male child if his father is not the person behind the idea.

That number 1 was not properly stated

And most of these are old practices.

Am from Onitsha not Nsukka

For your second paragraph. The deity will even strike the man and not the woman. The woman may only run mad.

This was done because, for a woman that truely love her husband before marrying him will never try to cheat for any reason. She knows what is at stake before trying such

Yes, it's keeping the lineage.

A wife can marry another woman for the husband especially if she can't give birth( or birth a male child).

How is that a paternity fraud when it is actually a contract between two families?
Paternity fraud is when a cheating wife gets pregnant from another man and pin it on her husband.

The deities do not work until appeased with the blood of animals and kolanuts. If you stop appeasing the gods or deities in Igboland nothing happens.

Paternity fraud has been in existence since God knows when . It's something universal but here we go with the Sainteastern, which such no dey happen for their place

Where you are from is secondary but you were using Nsukka as a yardstick.

The culture of Nsukka people, which is but a fragment of the generality of Ndigbo, cannot supersede what is generally accepted as the culture of Ndigbo.

So, variances might occur amongst the different people of the Igbo tribe but that won’t dim the fact that there is a generally accepted norm.
