The documentation of the history of Ekiti especially that of Ido-Ekiti has long been overdue for decades and this is because of the lull in their educational development that dragged for so long, which prevented them from having literate and research-interested individuals to embark upon the selfless venture. Moreover, the community could not easily appreciate the need for such documentation for their overwhelming illiterate members, which situation today, by God's Grace, has tremendously changed. In the same vein, there was no time when it was more compelling than now for more intensive and comprehensive researches into the history of our people in Ekiti. This is because the history of our people is being thwarted to suit the political exigencies. Moreover, most of the past authors of our history gave wrong accounts of the people they are trying to propagate and such inchoate efforts have thus reduced some of these authors to nothing but storytellers. Every community has a duty to document, for yet unborn generation, its historical facts and cultural values to prevent deliberate distortions and pollution.

The people of Ido are not so conversant with their history, hence the different versions of their history coming out of the town from different quarters. It is very common, to have many versions of the same history and the truth may lie in marrying both or all of them together. Therefore, the need for this book has become necessary to provide all hidden information about the community to their fast growing and developing members, neighbours, friends and the public.
