My Professional Course Or A New Job? by Ultrame(m): 4:57pm On Sep 20, 2007
hi Nairalanders,
i've always loved the humorous, brilliant and inspiring ways people are guided out of their personal hells in nairaland. keep it up guys u all rock!

as it happens, im in a deep mess confusion making my mind up about something.

until on monday, i was a contract staff in one of the banks. and i wasnt doing what i wanted so i quit so that i could start this NIIT program. (i won the scholarship in the A++ category)

then like 10 minuites ago i got this call that they wanted me for an interview for conversion into full staff,

if they make me a full staff, i will still be doing the kind of job i dont like, but the pay is very encouraging 2.8PA

but i will lose the opportunity to develop myself in the area i like.

what do i do.

the interview is on saturday 22nd please help!!!

Hey,

Here is my advice, Go for the Interview. I mean if you decide afterwards not to take the job, great but I am not quite sure of the other program you were refering to but I have to ask if it is not possible to work and go to school at the same time??

@ultrame,
go for the interview since its on saturday.

u really have nothing to lose.

is there a way u can run the two simultaneously i.e dt is like do d NIIT stuff on part time basis(like weekends) and d job on full time basis?

but if this is not possible i would advice u complete ur NIIT programme.

dt program is recognised anywhere in the world.

at the end of it there is a greater probability that u 'd get a more well paying job than u presently have now.

this is also taking into consideration the fact that u are not in love with the job.

money is not all there is to life even though its a sine qua non to a beautiful life.

in addition,the NIIT stuff is a scholarship,so u are not paying a dime.now dt u have d zeal and its free grab it with both hands.

u seem to have a love for infotech.so go for it.

the banks have a "lovely way" of killing peoples dreams all in the name of the cash.

at the end of ur program ,i am certain u would get ur hearts desire

it may not look like d best now bt u will definitely not regret it.

and most importantly,pray.that is the greatest power on earth

cheers

@poster

Attend the interview. If offered the job take it (we are talking 2.8 PA here). u can always ask NIIT to convert the full time program to a part time one. i know they do it a lot. But if they refuse u can always afford to pay with your killer salary. You know it is really not easy getting a job, certification or not especially if u do not have experience in that particular field

Wish the best in your interview.
