Yes, we all wanted a different candidate during the last presidential election.

If you stop a million Nigerians and ask whom they supported, their responses would be as diverse as our individual dialects. But having said that, one candidate stood out the most, and the majority of Nigerians supported him. That candidate is Peter Obi. But alas, Nigeria happened, and he didn't win. Elections have come and gone, and here we are. Nigeria remains, while the election sponsors have all recouped their investments, irrespective of whether their candidate won. It's we, the citizens, who are left feeling the harsh economy of the country.

No matter how much Kwankwanso cries, he doesn't suffer the way you and I suffer. The same goes for Obi, Sowore, and Tinubu. All these politicians do not suffer like you and I.

What is my point? We need to help ourselves by paving our path. If we remove Tinubu today and Peter Obi enters, Tinubu will never suffer. Someone who loses elections every time is not suffering and will never suffer.

Peter Obi, who was robbed in the last elections, has never and will never suffer.

My brothers and sisters, we need to have a mentality change and start thinking more about home.

Yes, I know none of us have ever enjoyed Nigeria the way our parents enjoyed it, but this is still our home.

Let us learn to buy more Made in Nigeria goods and support our Nigerian companies. Forget that mentality that foreign is better; it's not always the case. Yes, foreign goods have great standards, but I can bet you if you look well, you will also find a Nigerian-made version that does the same thing.

Tell me one imported product that you can't find a great Nigerian version of.

Toilet Duck = Harpic Digestive Biscuits = Okin Biscuit or Carbon Foreign yogurt can't beat our farm-fresh yogurt made in Jos here.

See list any product here I will tell you the Nigerian version that exists .

See our innoson cars, why doesn't our citizens , buy made in Nigeria cars?
When you collect that loan to buy Toyota why not support your own local company innoson?

We citizens are not trying but we always blame the government? When even we are not doing our bit !!

That is how one foolish person on an earlier tread was asking how dare Airpeace reduce airtickets for us Nigerians without consulting foreign airlines !!! Just imagine the idiotic mentality such an illiterate has.

If such a tout is made a governor he will steal all the states money and spend it abroad .
Re: We As Citizens Must Do Better - Buy Made In Nigeria by CountinBlessins(m): 8:15pm On Apr 07
Even the politicians steal carry all.their loot and spend abroad and spend ok imported things. If they were even spending it on and win Nigeria goods at least our local industries would thrive .!!

You buy imported clothes worn by sick and dead people, and call it okira or Belgium clothes instead of gong to aba to buy made in Aba that is has better quality and is healthier for you .

See how messed up our mentality?

You will rather buy imported clothes of dead white people than go to Aba to buy a new dress made by a fellow citizen. In your mind the clothes you are wearing that someone died in is bette than brand new Aba made clothes ?
Re: We As Citizens Must Do Better - Buy Made In Nigeria by CountinBlessins(m): 8:20pm On Apr 07
Abroad China are proud to say made in China , Americans are proud to say made in America , same with Germany or Taiwan but here we Nigerians describe our own Made in Aba in a negative way as of it's a bad thing and we teach our children to avoid made in Aba !!!

Just imagine how foolish we all are. We teach our kids that Made in Aba or Nigeria is bad and fake while used imported in good !! And we wonder why all.pir local manufacturers are suffering and closing up their factories?

This is why I do not pity Nigerians who cry about DSTv extortion. Because that's what we deserve!! I still pay the N19k every month because I am guilty too.

When TSL came out as a competitor to DSTV, what did we do? We opened threads here on Nairaland mocking them and calling them local , substandard etc !!!

We ran down TSL!! Our very own Nigerian company?!! Imagine that! That's can't happen in any other country intm the world. And we wonder why DSTV do not respect us? We are foolish! We blame the government and senators , we say DSTV must be bribing them etc that is why they allow.DSTV extort us. But that's not the case. Is it the government that made us ignore TSL and keep patronizing DSTv ?

Just see what Airpeace has accomplished by making all these evil foreign airlines start reducing their air tickets.

So if we had supported TSL today we would have been paying less than half what we pay monthly for DSTV and TSLA would still be functional creating jobs and giving DSTV good competition
Re: We As Citizens Must Do Better - Buy Made In Nigeria by CountinBlessins(m): 8:31pm On Apr 07
Until everyone of us understands why we must prioritize purchasing made in Nigeria good and services then we have no right to complain tomorrow of dollar exchanges at $1 to N5000 .

It's not rocket science. Instead of buying bama buy golden penny mayonnaise.

Instead of Nutella but Flourmills Choco spread

Instead of imported shawarma bread patronize made in Nigeria ones

Instead of buying Italian suits go to Aba there are tailors there that will make a better suite for you.

Instead of buying used clothes go to Aba and buy new ones

Instead of buying Irish spring bath soup buy Dudu osun bath soup

Instead of buying Colgate tooth paste buy close up

When I got tired of smuggled, rotten and injected imported chicken I switched to Nigerian fresh chicken.

When I got tired of rebagged and often moldy imported rice I changed to Nigerian rice.

I stopped drinking anything they say has sugar cos they all use saccarine which will give you diabetes and kill your kidneys. No soft drinks, no yoghurt, zobo, even sweet bake stuff unless I make it by myself. I am just recovering from Diabetes.

Corruption in govt and civil service is Nigeria's biggest problem. Lets hold our govt accountable and forget about playing to the gallery

Playing to the gallery? Are you kidding me? You call prioritizing purchasing made in Nigeria as playing to the gallery?

So the Japanese Chinese , Europeans etc who all prioritize buying their products are all playing to the gallery?

I don't think you understand what that statement you made means
Re: We As Citizens Must Do Better - Buy Made In Nigeria by DMerciful(m): 7:12am On Apr 08
You cannot let the tail wag the dog. Our biggest problem by far is allowing corrupt people to run govt and squander our resources. We must break this structure of criminality.

You cannot expect someone to buy naija if its cheaper and of better quality to import. We must focus on where we have competitive advantage. All country imports but because of corruption in govt, we cannot have stable electricity and other incentives to make us produce competitively.

How much do yoj buy that makes you think a dent can be made? Does the govt buy naija to grow naija?

The tail should not wag the dog!

Let's the clear, being more socially conscious is not a bad thing. Thinking about what you buy and the effect it has is a good thing.

Yes corruption and other things are a big part of the problem but inefficiencies at individual level when combined also contribute significantly.

Let's do both things. One is easier to achieve for the ordinary person than the other. Or do you know a way to get rid of corruption overnight?
