JOB TITLE: HUMANITIES EDITOR
LOCATION: IBADAN
A leading Academic publisher of Nigerian Educational sector requires Humanities Editor at their Corporate Head office located in Ibadan

RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Evaluate manuscripts submitted and work with authors to develop fresh content and help their ideas/stories succeed for publication.
 Use the company’s guide and accepted grammar and readability standards.
 Regular Interface with illustrators and book designers.
 Perform copy editing and technical tasks which include proofreading submitted files for grammar, punctuation, spellings and style.
 Verify facts cited in material for publication to ensure accuracy.
 Keep track of all edited work and ensure manuscript is published on time. Filing, photocopying and other routine administrative tasks as may be assigned by the Head of Editorial department.
 Collaborating with the editor-in-chief to come up with new and original content on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis.

REQUIREMENTS
B.sc in English literature, history, communications or other related discipline.
3+ years of experience as a Humanities Editor.
Use of excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships both internally and externally.
Ability to Use Grammarly and other editorial tools for effective editing and Proofreading
Project management skills: including the ability to manage products from early stages through to publication.
Confidence to work independently with academic authors, editors and professional societies.
