My "Once a teacher, Always a teacher" Story (True life story)

Back in my secondary School days, I just wanted to be a brilliant student because of the love such students received from teachers,

because of the respect they had from fellow students, and
because of the way the society believed in them.
Did I achieve that? I think I did.

However, in my last two years in school the words "you'll be a teacher" or "you should be a teacher" started coming from every corner.

I was supposed to be happy being found qualified to handle such a first class responsibility in society. But I wasn't and I kept wondering why…

I found out why later in the future when -should I say- destiny led me into teaching.

Once in a hot Afternoon while teaching physics, I noticed the fatiqued face of students so decided to spice the class up:

I talked about the importance of education and how it has a major role in every successful man's life.
My students were enjoying the discussion until one bold boy asked me questions about;

🙆The rumoured facts that some of our leaders aren't educated.

🙆Why most world richest men were school dropouts?

🙆why many uneducated business men tend to succeed more than graduates?

These questions are often hard to explain to the underaged so I tried my best…

I explained that "education isn't the same as going to school". I dug deeper into the explanation. Guess what? I succeeded in winning them over to believing in education.

But one last question from this same boy;
"But sir, why aren't teachers rich? Like you, with all the intelligence would you want to teach like this for the rest of your life?

😰 For a moment, I wanted to break down then I realized I was still in front of my students.

Was it the best to flog him? I guess no. It would mean a lot to teachers' confidence if all I did was flog him and ignore the question. So I confronted it boldly:

"Teaching is a lovely profession that requires passion. Without teachers there would be no Lawyers, Doctors, Engineers etc.

Without teachers there would be no peaceful society. Teachers don't only teach you to be intelligent. They also teach you good norms and ethics. They impact positive charisma and character to help you be a better citizen.

By doing so, I believe that teachers contribute to a major percentage of the good of a society.

However, our government does owe teachers, and most are not even paid well. Teachers teach you because they love you, not because of the salary.
They have humanity at heart.

So if there's anyone you should love and respect so much, it's any teacher out there.

At the end of the class, I saw emotions, pity in their eyes for teachers. They also started respecting our teachers more and were more serious with their studies.

That helped. It really did.

But then, going back home I felt so distressed. That question kept ringing in my head. Do I really want to teach like this for a lifetime?

He was actually right with that. I was teaching 4 core science subjects and was paid 25k 😭

I went in search of a side hustle. I found one and started into it.
School closed and opened and I resigned. I saw my 8 months salary in 2 weeks with something I considered a side hustle. Shocking enough, with just my smartphone.

When it was announced that I'll be leaving, students cried, especially the older ones. They refused to leave the school's premises back home.

They hugged and took pictures with me. It made me cry on seeing how much I'd affected their lives, but,
I just had to leave.

It's been 6 months now and I'm still a teacher.

Yes! I have been teaching this simple smartphone side hustle that changed my life for free.

I still love to teach and this time, I teach financial education.

As a teacher, you know that joy you feel when you produce successful students? That's how I feel when my students succeed with my training now.

One love to all the teachers out there…
