COMRADES, I had an appointment with an official at the aforementioned University, while I was outside waiting for my turn. Suddenly, there was a bang! And immediately we all took to our heels and presuming it was a bomb blast grin

After some moments of calmness, we discovered that it was a portion of the ceiling of the building that fell down! What a sight of relief! The building which we were in, was the faculty of humanities in the university ,and it doubles as the largest faculty in the institution

The building in question, is one of the buildings that was built by well spirited individuals and it was commissioned/inaugurated not long ago, but it is in this sorry state today. Based on my assumption or assessment (though I am not an architect); this building may soon collapse and when this happens many lives will be lost, the building is young but it is already stressed

Our leaders will rather invest more on stones than human capital development

Not just University of Port Harcourt most public universities look that way, the federal government should pay special attention to the infrastructure of its public universities and provide some cutting edge infrastructure to them.

While we hold the govt accountable for this, we should also blame our poor maintenance culture. The students that also engage in destruction of school properties should be blamed too. Terrible.
