On April 10th, 2024, a tragic event occurred in Nigeria that left many people devastated. On that fateful Wednesday, a well-known actor in the Nigerian Film Industry, Jnr Pope, lost his life in a boat accident while on the River Niger. His death came as a shock to many and was a dark moment for the entire country.
According to the Actors Guild of Nigeria, which confirmed the heartbreaking news, the charismatic and talented was on his way back from a movie location in Delta State alongside other actors and had to cross the River Anam, the lower River Niger. Unfortunately, the actor never made it back to his young family and drowned in the river following an accident that capsized the boat.
A video that has gone viral shows the last moments of Jnr Pope on a boat just before the accident occurred. In the video, the actor is heard complaining to the boat driver about the speed, asking him to reduce it because he is scared. It has been observed that the late actor and other passengers were not wearing life jackets. However, Jnr Pope can be heard declaring that he will cross the river safely and raise his kids. The emotional video has moved many viewers.
