There must be some other criterion for active membership other than having two posts. I know it looks great when showing other ppl the site, hey look at the 20,000 active members! , . only to find that its only 300 who've actually posted anything in the last week. I would think activity should be based on the last time you posted and logged on.

Say, you get de-"active"-ated after 30 days of your last post (once you are above something like 5 posts). Under 5 posts don't count as active members. If you sign in w/o posting, it adds 5 days to the time before your de-"active"-ation. If you've been de-"active"-ated and you login w/o posting, your status remains unchanged.

Just my two cents. . . and i want it back. . . so, once enough ppl throw theirs into the mix. . .i'm grabbing mine back , . .

I guess we can all define what we want "active members" to be. I dont think making a post just to be classified as active is ideal-then we will get a lot of junk, fights etc, just to have a post. Membership should be registered members who sign in(wether thy post or not!). Makes it simple for everyone. I am not sure I understand the criteria Idiot has listed out-Am sure happy,I dont have to decide who is active or not!

Since when do you care whether or not you are an active member? Most people here don't look at the member lists to check whether or not they are listed as active. So, the average user will not care, and therefore would not be doing idiotic things to stay active.

I don't see why it should be made simple, like I said, not only does the average user not care about active/inactive status. . . there is no reason why they should consciously exert control over it either.

Finally, my original suggestion allows for logging in to extend the time a member is on the active list, theoretically, they could use that to maintain active status (if they actually knew the criterion) indefinitely. However, loggin in should not be the only metric.

You're asking me to do extra work for the purpose of making the forum appear less popular. Brilliant.
Re: All This Active Member Nonsense by chinedumo(m): 9:12am On Jun 28, 2010
when u say less popular do u mean that people won't like it? the good is always better than the bad. it is the price to pay for success. unless u have a bettter idea. it is not that i don't appreciate ur effort even i talking has done nothing it is just that i want u to be better than u are
Re: All This Active Member Nonsense by chinedumo(m): 9:22am On Jun 28, 2010
OK it seems that i have gotten u. so u have been deceiving us, making it appear more popular than it actually is. the truth is more important. it is wrong and worse to raise people's hopes and then dash it when they find it not true. it is like teasing.they will know when they start participating. they will be the ones now discouraging new members. it is better for people to know the truth about u. it will set u free from burdens. u will spend your whole life covering up. in torment of what will happen if people know. others will exploit the situation to blackmail u to do their biding. is it really necessary? is it worth it? those it pay? as u expect your customers to be truthful in their post so be truthful to them about their post. lead by example. and they will find something good to follow. lies beget lies. when u are lying u are in no ground and without the necessary courage and zeal to punish transgression
