An American official said that Israel carried out a strike inside Iran, at dawn today, Friday (Iran local time), in a move that threatens to spark more bloody conflict throughout the Middle East.

In the latest episode of a series of what was called “response with retaliation” between Iran and Israel, whose long-standing shadow confrontations came to light, Israel carried out a strike today, Friday, on Iranian territory.

This strike comes to translate Tel Aviv's promises to respond to Tehran's launching of drones and missiles into the Hebrew state at the end of the week, in response to a strike attributed to Israel on the Iranian consulate in Damascus on April 1.

These confrontations are part of a broader escalation since the outbreak of war in Gaza last year, but the conflict between the two sides has its roots for decades and has extended through a history of shadow wars and secret attacks from land, sea, air, and across cyberspace.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Iranian Army said, on Friday, that the explosions that occurred in the sky of the city of Isfahan in the center of the country were linked to the launching of anti-aircraft systems at what he described as a suspicious object, and did not cause any damage, according to what was reported by the official Iranian news agency, IRNA.

Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid on Friday criticized hard-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir for an "inexcusable tweet" that was interpreted as mocking Israel's apparent attack on Iran last night.

An informed regional intelligence source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, commented on Iran’s possible reaction to the Israeli strike, saying that direct strikes between the two countries “have ended,” pointing out that Iran is not expected to respond to Israeli strikes. He did not give a reason not to.

“Israel does not have the capacity to fight a comprehensive, long-term war without external support,” said Maha Yahya, director of the Carnegie Middle East Center think tank. “It will need a commitment from the United States to continue providing weapons, and it depends on the United States and other Western powers on a number of military fronts.” ".

On Friday, Iranian media published footage and pictures of calm scenes in the country after an “unknown” air attack on Isfahan Governorate, while an Iranian official said that air defenses intercepted three drones, after reports of explosions near a military base in the central region.

Retired US Army Major General Mark McCarley said that by targeting Iran's Isfahan province - the site of large nuclear facilities - it was likely that Israel was sending a warning that it could easily bypass Iranian defenses. "I think there was a very deliberate thought process," he said. By the Israeli Defense Cabinet.

The Iranian Tasnim News Agency quoted a senior Iranian military commander as saying that the sound of a strong explosion near the Iranian city of Isfahan was caused by “the Air Defense Organization targeting a suspicious object,” noting that there had been “no damage or accidents.”

The United Nations International Atomic Energy Agency said on Friday that Iranian nuclear sites did not sustain any damage after the air attack that occurred in Isfahan province, and called for restraint in the region.

Iranian journalist and researcher, Abbas Aslani, sees the strike as an Israeli attempt to “save face” after Iran targeted it with strikes over the weekend, adding in a statement to CNN: “It is a bit too early to judge whether the matter is over or not, but in At the present time... there does not appear to be a regional war emerging,” he said, noting that there is still a chance for the situation to escalate.

After the air strike in Iran's Isfahan region, Iranian state media reported that all facilities in the region were safe, including important nuclear facilities.

A Flydubai flight from Dubai to Tehran was diverted to the Emirates, on Friday morning, after the closure of Khomeini International Airport in Tehran, and a company spokesman said that flights from Dubai to Iran had been cancelled.
