Actually, its Saturday and i saw a lot of people jogging and looking at their faces, i could tell they really needed results from their efforts so badly so i said i'll clear the air on thiis misconception about the exercise called Jogging

FINE. You wanna jog. But it's time dependent so you wanna have a solid reason before putting on your jogging shoes and breathing later like what-I-do -not-know around your local govt. area

Now the ASK: why do you Really wanna go jogging

I'm waiting...

because your health trainer told you to do so..
because you saw your friend that has a great body doing it...
because its good for the heart..

If All these are the reason you do jogging, they wouldn't be by the time youre done reading this not-so-long post
Moving on


Regardless of whatever bullshit your physical training coach trainer tells you, the two primarily reason ALL humans round the world jog is summed into this

1) To Lose FAT

2) To build muscles

That's ALL



1) To Lose FAT: ***I'm typing this part of my write-up with pain in my heart and you will know why soon***

If you wanna jog because you want to lose fat, you have to understand that fat loss comes from caloric deficit. eating less than your body needs. PERIOD.

Please understand this so you don't waste your time jogging

There is a specific energy in calories that your body requires to maintain some actions it undergoes DAILY if you are not doing any intense physical activity. Called a Basal Metabolic Rate, BMR. You can google what it means and calculate your own BMR online easily

some actions like blinking, swallowing, breathing etc. Most of the time, you don't think while doing this but your body does it regardless and this consumes energy. "Bodily Energy" as I like to call it

It's just like saying "because I didn't switch on any appliances in my house so my meter shouldn't read"

That's wrong. Your meter is reading by the mere fact that electricity is passing through all the the wires in your house. and there is energy losses in wires because the wires gets hot. yes.

the electrical energy was converted to heat.

So you don't notice this slight energy conversions but your meter reads, same way your body notices these slight blinking, swallowing and breathing. small actions but they consume energy in the body

so let's say your BMR/ all these bodily actions like breathing, blinking etc requires 100 calories per day from the food you eat. and you then decide to eat 500 calories without doing any physical activity to burn the excess, then your body will store the excess 400 calories AS FAT after taking the 100 calories it needs from this food

SO if you wanna go jogging to lose fat and you ate that tiny piece of cake that contains 1000 calories with your BMR at 100 calories.... SORRY. You will remain fat UNTIL you burn that excess 900 calories.

So why jog to burn 900 calories from a small piece of cake when you could have easily avoided that cake in the first place.

As I said earlier, fat loss works with simple calorie deficit.
If your body requires 100 calories per day to maintain itself and you feed it say 80 calories, your body will then take the deficit 20 calories it needs FROM YOUR FAT. and that's how you lose fat

if you do this for 30 days, this will mean your body needs 100 calories but you keep feeding it 80 calories, forcing it to take the remaining 20 calories from your fat, in 30 days, your body would have taken 600 calories from your fat alone, giving you your desired and long awaited lean sexy shape.

of course, you will get hungry by eating less than your body needs but you won't really feel the hunger effects if you space your 80 calories meal into 4 little meals (20 calories per meal) to be eaten every 6 hours like most prefessional body builders do.

*Note: I'm using 100 calories AS BMR for illustration purposes*

TA-DA! Now you know why Anthony Joshua eat those his large meals every 4-5 hours. His BMR is high + He doesn't want to gain fat but he wants to build muscles because any calorie not used by the body is stored as fat regardless if its calorie from coke or fanta or cake or beans or rice

and dont get me wrong. BMR is the closest youre gonna get as a guage to measure your calories shortagees and excesses. and it differs for all humans


2) TO Build muscles:

Pay close attention while you jog: What part of your body do you feel get exercised the most

I'll help you with the answer

The body parts that get exercised while you jog are:

1) Your legs
2) Your heart
3) Your Arms/Shoulders

Trust me. That list is complete.

So what if there's an alternative exercise where you don't need to go out and run round your street... because its only the wicked that run when no one is chasing

THE ALTERNATIVE TO JOGGING: Pressups + Squats

Come to think of it. When you jog, the muscles that gets exercised are your legs, your arms and shoulders by way of swinging your hand while moving and your heart

Pressups and Squats in the convenience of your home fixes ALL of that. Yes

While doing your Pressups as an alternative to jogging, you work out your arms and shoulders WAYY better than the bullshit results that jogging offers.
and With proper dieting and rest, you will start to see results in your shoulders and biceps growth in less than 2 months. WITH PROPER DIET (Protein and carb but mostly protein as protein is a body BUILDING food ) and rest

but the question you will ask is " Pressups only deals with the shoulder area...what of my legs"

ENTER STAGE: Squats
There are exercises you will do and you will know that you have done something positively huge with your body. Squats is THAT exercise. You feel your legs tighten up. Yes, now eat some fast digesting protein and carbohydrates and watch your legs grow stronger and thicker in the space of few months

Squats gives you room to work out your legs and thighs without having to leave the comfort of your home. Heck! You can do such exercise in your home passage or just outside your house that's open to ventilation.

and guess what
Squats and Pressups not only gives you the opportunity to work out specific related muscle groups in a target manner, you also get an additional body part workout: Your heart.

For the newbies, Try do 15 Pressups at once and observe your heartbeat on your monitor or exercise device and if you don't have one, just feel it pumping and pumping and pumping. Now ask yourself, whats the difference between heartbeat pumping tha came from jogging and heartbeat pumping that came from pressups.

NO. Theres no single difference.

So by doing Pressups and Squats, you just exercised three muscle groups WITHOUT having to leave the comfort of your home or running round your street like police is chasing you. Isnt that fun and convenient.

MY END NOTE: Just try watch what you eat. Its wayy better to avoid those high caloric food than to eat them and expect to burn them off with exercises later. Sometimes this takes days even with high intensity exercise so isnt it better to avoid poison than to take it and be looking for cure later.

Stomach fat can be lost too BY LOSING FAT OVERALL FROM THE WHOLE BODY


That's the misconception some people have and I was guilty of too: I used to think you could lose fat in your stomach alone and leave the fat on your face but I was wrong: Fat loss IS UNIFORM.

THERE IS NOTHING LIKE LOSING FAT FROM YOUR FACE AND LEAVING STOMACH FAT. It will take time depending on what you eat/feed your self with


Fat loss happens simultaneously and how most people who lose fat do theirs is by building muscles while losing fat.

Why?

Because having muscles itself is a fat burner! It's just like wearing heavy clothing around your body. Over time you will start to get tired and guess what. You are burning calories like that.

Muscles is MORE heavier than fat that's why you see some lepa guys beating a fat big dude.

You know how a pillow looks like right. Now if there is a pillow that is contained with fat, what I need to match the weight of that fat in the pillow is a bottle water of muscles
Like small useful muscles = big piece of useless fat

So by building muscles, you burn fat easily.

To get rid of stomach fat, AND I CANT STRESS THIS ENOUGH, watch what you eat.

Haven't you noticed that most people that have stomach fat are

1) People that consume lots of alcohol and soft drinks fanta, coke, guiness, maltz cake, pizza, chips etc

2) People that don't do exercises

The alcohol that people are consuming has THOUSANDS of calories. and remember what you read in this article: if you feed your body more calories than it needs, your body will store the excess calories AS FAT and people have different places that their body chose to store fat. That's why some have fat legs others have fat face and others have big belly


the calories from alcohols and soft drinks comes from junk food material. Why. Because alcohol is just made from ethanol and sweetner. Ethanol is poison on its own so they had to make the ethanol sweet so you can enjoy poisoning yourself. Same with coke and fanta and ALL SOFT DRINKS ON THE PLANTED. Sugar + carbonated water. That's all.

And for no 2, you will notice that it's mostly girls that are living soft life that usually end up having big belly. WHY

They don't use energy BUT THEY EAT A LOT: they eat cake, Chicken and chips, ice creams, yogurt, and still top it with fearless and all this whole they sit and home and binge watch Netflix. Whenever they want to go to theirs street junction, they'll use okada

Looks at their body and you will find out that all the calories from the food AND DRINKS they consumed was excess and their body took the calories it needed and then stored the excess AS FAT

But then you might tell yourself " I can eat junk foods as long as I'm exercising my body daily"

No. Trust me it sounds like a smart idea but a stressful one at that. Why eat a small piece of cake so that you can go spend 4 hours of your precious time in the gym burning the calories from that cake.

WHY

WAS IT NOT BETTER YOU AVOIDED THE CAKE IN THE FIRST PLACE.

I love this piece here. I remembered my biochemist Lecturer in school back then. He was so fit and the lectures bothers on complete optimization of anything that goes into the body, what is stored, what is used up and what is excreted as waste. I love this course because when you consume a particular diet, you know the end products, what it produces in your body, how long its going to take to be useful and more importantly, in case of consuming another diets, you know what the resultant effect will be. I hope I would be able to self study on this biochemist and apply it to my daily life.

A simple goggle search about the benefits of jogging will cancel all this long epistle by a native doctor. No form of exercise covers the whole body and brain too like jogging. The benefits can never be overestimated.

I don't need to start exchanging words with you. I know a lot about exercises that you don't. Good diets alone without a healthy lifestyle cannot ensure a healthy life. The richest people without a healthy lifestyle despite their diet suffer more life threatening conditions. Ask Tony Elumelu about jogging. There is no better alternative than jogging when it comes to general body exercise. It covers your entire body and brain too. I don't need to read all the crap you posted up there to see the many lies in there. Peace.

I disagree with you demonizing and downgrading jogging as a means of loosing excess fat or unwanted fat. I'm a living witness.

Heck!

Whatever speeds up your metabolism will help you not only burn fat but increase blood circulation and more oxygen intake.

The only downside is if you jog to loose weight without adding adequate aerobic exercises, you will look flabby at the end of the day. I jog, I jump rope, I lift some weight and I do aerobic exercises to look athletic.

A look at your lap by a trained eye in an operating room easily gives a clue of the condition of your heart!

Jogging is not for losing fat only. Jogging helps in elevating the mood. It also helps in getting rid of toxic wastes through sweating.

However, I will agree with the Op on portion control. To reduce fat, the best line of action is a calorie deficit that is staggered.
Eat , but only in little portions.

At the very least, jogging teaches a person how to breathe during exertion. If that isn’t something then I don’t know what is. E sure me die say all the people who contributed to this thread have never exercised in their lives.

1.how do i get rid of metabolic waste
push up and squate are good exercise for muscles development no doubt
but you can't compare it with jogging
reason
when i wake up i push up 30 times to clear my eyes then i squat after that i do frog up a little with some minor exercise,even as i dey do am so i no go sweat,
but when i come back from jogging.
you go think say heavy rain fall from where i dey come from,jogging na still dey best
if you go find another tip to get rid of metabolism e go complete.

Eat nutrient dense food, you will see the difference.
It's not about the quantity of food,but how densed the nutrients are. Garri has zero nutrients to build muscle. It's not protein.
Moreover, if you are a man, you could be expending the energy through the addictions that plague young men.

You will look flabby only if you lose fat WITHOUT BUILDING MUSCLES. Most professiinal bodybuilders recommend doing both simultaneously As both can be done simultaneously ie it is possible to lose fat and build muscles at the same time. Eat regulated amount of protein and carbs and healthy fat and then exercise BY LIFTING heavy with good form and then rest well

Sweating is just one of the forms your body loses water. Why is it that when you don't sweat that much after drinking water, you tend to urinate frequently

Apply context. Other factors play into this like your cells absorbing the water due to your diet making you feel bloated etc but this is just a general framework your body uses to lose water


2) Pressups (lifting dumbbells) + Squats (other leg exercises) = Jogging

This is the plain truth most people don’t want to accept.

I once had this discussion with someone and the person didn’t agree, the truth is exercising to lose weight is a high effort, low reward activity.

If you want to lose weight simply eat less. Take less calories than your body actually needs, simple!

You look like a bag of rice cause you eat too much. If you like exercise from Sunday to Sunday and keep consuming like a thief, you are just deceiving yourself.

This your claim...Do you have stats to back it up or you just woke up one morning to come up with all these.

There are several reasons why people jog and the benefits attached to it. For you to limit it down to just 2 is myopic in reasoning.

Your article did not address the psychological benefits of jogging, the after effects physiologically on the entire body.

That's correct.

If the were that passionate about seeing results from their jogging (of which their expected results would be losing fat), they would have trekked to their jogging venue, then jog, and trek back home

All this done with a proper diet BEFORE AND AFTER jogging ie watching what they eat. (Eat measured SLOW digesting protein before bed and try to avoid carb as carb digestion produces insulin and insulin makes it difficult for the body to burn body fat even while you sleep. Then after waking up, the morning of the jog, eat measured SLOW digesting protein + carbs should be eaten and then immediately AFTER the jog, FAST digesting protein +carbs should then be eaten. Protein repairs the torn muscles making the build back stronger while carbohydrates give energy to jog. The perfect combo. After jogging your body is in a heightened and most active state to utilize these carbs and proteins so you should feed your body at that time)

But alas! Most of them jogging probably ate cake and chicken and chips just before jogging so they shouldn't be expecting any results in the fat loss section

At that point, their jogging would be a waste of their precious time.
