General Francis Ogolla's Son Pays Tribute at Ulinzi Sports Complex

In a solemn ceremony at Ulinzi Sports Complex, Lang’ata, Nairobi, Joel Rabuku Omondi, son of the late Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) General Francis Ogolla, shared poignant insights into his father's unwavering dedication to combatting terrorism and banditry. This heartfelt tribute, delivered during a military honors and memorial service, shed light on General Ogolla's fervent desire to confront threats head-on, ultimately sacrificing his life in the line of duty.

Expressing his father's resolute stance against groups like al Shabaab and bandits, Omondi recounted how General Ogolla harbored a profound aspiration to eliminate these adversaries. "He wanted to perish in battle against these enemies," Omondi revealed, emphasizing his father's fearless resolve. "Therefore, let us not cower in fear of al Shabaab. If my father did not flinch in the face of danger, neither should we," he urged.

Encouraging soldiers to emulate his father's relentless pursuit of peace, Omondi urged them to intensify their efforts against militants and bandits. "His vision was a Kenya free from the scourge of violence. He yearned to end the cycle of innocent lives being lost," Omondi stated emphatically. "Though he may have departed before achieving this goal, it is incumbent upon us to carry forth his legacy and vanquish our adversaries."

Addressing the perpetrators directly, Omondi issued a stern warning: "Though General Ogolla may have departed, the battle rages on. You may have silenced one voice, but countless others stand ready to defend our nation. We will pursue you relentlessly, guided by our unwavering faith. Kenya will prevail."

Emphasizing the need for decisive action, Omondi emphasized his father's disdain for half-measures. "When engaging the enemy, leave no room for doubt. Ensure they are vanquished completely," he declared. "This is how my father operated, and this is the standard we must uphold."

Reflecting on his father's anguish over the loss of comrades, Omondi underscored the personal toll exacted by the ongoing conflict. "The darkest days for my father were those when he mourned the fallen," Omondi recalled, a somber note underscoring the sacrifices made in service to the nation.

General Ogolla, tragically lost in a helicopter crash alongside nine other officers, was on a mission of peace in the Rift Valley region, beset by incessant violence. As preparations are made for his final journey to Ng’iya village, Alego Usonga subcounty in Siaya for burial, his legacy of valor and commitment to safeguarding Kenya's future lives on.

In honoring General Ogolla's memory, Joel Rabuku Omondi's poignant tribute serves as a rallying cry for unity and resolve in the face of adversity. Together, let us honor his legacy by continuing the fight for a safer, more secure Kenya.
