Adewale-Smatt Oyerinden, the Director-General of the Nigeria Employers' Consultative Association (NECA), is one name that stands out in the dynamic landscape of Nigerian and West African business. With an illustrious career spanning pivotal roles in international organizations and a track record of spearheading transformative projects, Oyerinde has emerged as a driving force in shaping workplace relations and economic development.

At the helm of NECA, the largest and most influential Business Membership Organization (BMO) in the region, Oyerinde has brought his visionary leadership to bear on a multitude of initiatives aimed at fostering job creation, enhancing employability, and promoting excellence in the business community.

A testament to his commitment to global cooperation and standards setting, Oyerinde serves as a Member of the Governing Body of the International Labour Organization (ILO), playing a crucial role in shaping policies that impact work-life dynamics and economies worldwide. His involvement in international forums such as the International Organization of Employers (IOE) Policy Working Groups underscores his dedication to advancing industrial relations and migration policies on a global scale.

Among his notable achievements, Oyerinde led the successful organization and management of the "6th African Social Partners Summit on Job Creation," a groundbreaking event held in partnership with the IOE, marking the first of its kind in an Anglophone country. This summit, attended by over 50 international delegates from 35 countries, showcased Oyerinde's ability to foster collaboration and dialogue on critical issues facing the African labor market.

In addition to his advocacy on the international stage, Oyerinde has championed impactful initiatives at the domestic level. Under his leadership, NECA launched the first "NECA Job/Employability Fair," a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative aimed at connecting job seekers with opportunities for employment and skills development. This initiative not only addressed pressing societal needs but also generated significant financial income and revenue through strategic sponsorship partnerships.

Oyerinde's commitment to recognizing excellence within the business community culminated in the establishment of the "Annual NECA Employers’ Excellence Awards," an initiative aimed at celebrating organizations that demonstrate outstanding performance and commitment to best practices in employment and corporate governance.

In response to the unprecedented challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Oyerinde spearheaded critical research projects and business sustainability plans to support NECA member companies. His collaboration with the ILO resulted in the development of the "NECA-ILO Business Sustainability Plan," providing essential guidance and resources to navigate the economic downturn caused by the pandemic.

Beyond his role at NECA, Oyerinde has served in various capacities, including as a former board member of the National Pension Commission (PENCOM) and the National Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF). His mediation and conciliation efforts between regulatory bodies and member companies have resulted in significant cost savings, exemplifying his dedication to advocating for the interests of employers.

In recognition of his exceptional contributions to business development and social responsibility, Oyerinde continues to be a driving force for positive change in Nigeria and beyond. With his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to excellence, he remains a catalyst for innovation and progress in the ever-evolving landscape of African business.
