The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) and its partner in the Awoba Unit Field, Newcross Exploration and Production Ltd., have recommenced crude oil production in Awoba Field, River State, marking the first production since 2021.

Olufemi Soneye, the spokesperson for NNPC, revealed this in a statement released on Tuesday in Abuja.

The statement highlighted that the Awoba field ceased production for the Bonny Terminal in 2021 and was shut down in February 2022 due to evacuation challenges and crude oil theft.
