Michael and Cecilia Ibru University Launches Groundbreaking Community Development Project to Alleviate Hunger in Host Community

Michael and Cecilia Ibru University (MCIU) proudly announces the commencement of a transformative Community Development Project aimed at combating hunger and empowering local farmers in its host community, Agbarha-Otor, and surrounding areas, in the Ughelli area of Delta State. The university's commitment to social impact echoes the visionary ethos of its founder, the esteemed Olorogun Michael C. O. Ibru, who believed fervently in empowerment and the eradication of hunger.

Scheduled to kick off in April 2024, the MCIU Community Development Project represents a significant milestone in the university's ongoing dedication to fostering positive change in society. The initiative focuses on supporting local farmers by donating cassava stems, a resilient and versatile crop, to bolster agricultural productivity in the community.

At the heart of this endeavour lies the recognition of the vital role agriculture plays in the sustenance and economic development of communities. By providing cassava stems to farmers in the region, MCIU aims to enhance food security, promote sustainable farming practices, and empower individuals to become self-sufficient.

The importance of this project cannot be overstated, particularly in a time marked by global challenges such as food insecurity and economic uncertainty. Through this initiative, MCIU underscores its commitment to addressing pressing societal needs and fostering inclusive growth.

Speaking on the significance of the project, the co-founder of the university, Dr Cecilia Ibru, OFR stated, "At Michael and Cecilia Ibru University, we are deeply rooted in the belief that education should extend beyond the confines of our campus and positively impact the communities we serve. This project embodies the spirit of empowerment and social responsibility championed by our founder, Olorogun Michael C. O. Ibru. By supporting local farmers and addressing the issue of hunger, we are honouring his legacy and advancing his vision of a more equitable society."

The MCIU Community Development Project reflects a holistic approach to community engagement, combining education, agriculture, and social welfare to create lasting change. As the university takes this bold step towards a brighter future for its host community, it invites stakeholders and partners to join hands in this noble endeavour.
