I went to a First bank ATM to make withdrawals last evening but the ATM swallowed my card. So I had to leave hoping to come back the following day (today Friday) to get my card back. On my way home, I started seeing debit alerts on my account! All the 181k in that account has been wiped off now.

The debit came from one POS/WEB PMT T GOD BLESS.

I'm so devastated right now.

I called Access bank and they said they would get back to me, I have also asked that they block the account.

Please what can I do?
Is there any hope of recovering my money back.

I AM LEFT WITH NOTHING !!!

PLEASE HELPPPP

The person that made the transaction has your password na. It's impossible to just use atm on Pos to deduct money just like that

Also when you make slot in a atm card, the system takes a picture of the card operator. When it ejects the card, the atm still takes a picture of the card operator. Also it's a technical fault on the part of the bank so most definitely they'll pay you your money back

I'm suspecting foul play actually. My card is still inside the ATM. How can anyone have access to it? I used First bank ATM

If someone who knows your pin isn't with the card... In Nigeria, no one has that technology to remove your money via website.

If not for the oyinbos, I can snap my ATM card front and back and post here because you can not finalize the withdrawal without phone verification (even if successful, it is pending in ledger balance for a few days).

Show screenshot of the alert, you probably took loan or connected your card to one of these shitty apps with right to withdraw at my will.

How can leave your ATM swallowed till the following day without informing any security official or anyone about the it.Someone must have been watching you then probably was able to get back the ATM only to start withdrawing your money.
Why didn't you also use an access bank ATM since it is access bank. Why using an access bank card to withdraw from a first bank ATM?
Well, going back to that ATM is a waste of time so go to any nearby access bank to block both the ATM and the bank account. Then, show them the account withdrawing your money. So that it can be traceable and tracked.
Make sure you arrest the culprit

Nigerians are there own problems

I have never borrowed any money from any loan app before.

I informed the security guy I saw there and he said my card had been swallowed and that I should come the following day (which is today). Then I left there.

Also, Is it now a must to use one's bank's ATM? or are you saying this because of what happened to me? People use different ATMs all the time. Should that be a problem?

They used Peace Mass Transit POS to withdraw the money. Locate any Peace Mass park around the ATM and start your investigation from there.

Sorry. I can only speculate. Just go and set camp at the bank because it looks like inside corruption from the bank (even knew the account balance to make sure they clean it).

1) Hope you didn't donate to a church POS?

2) Hope you don't know a criminal that you trust? Could be someone is with your real card & pin. The ATM swallow that card because it wasn't yours (swapped) so the pin wasn't correct.

Also report that first bank that this is what could be going on. Thank God you have an eyewitness.

May be they stole/swap his card after watching him put his pin.

It's not bad to use your ATM card with another bank's ATM machine but I do prefer the same bank ATM because of situations like this

.
?

Are you sure your card wasn't switched at the ATM? Did it fall at any point when you were trying to withdraw?

Criminals will stand behind you and switch your card without your knowledge. You insert the wrong card and key in your pin (which they observe) but the card doesn't work. ATM swallows fake card.

Meanwhile, the crook has your card and your password. He just goes to the nearest POS (without surveillance) and drains your account.

Well said. This was what happened. His card was swapped.

You're very wrong .

I was in Accra Ghana in 2012 with my uba ATM card in my shirt pocket.
Yet I was receiving debit alert from Nigeria with that same arm card .

An unscrupulous element was making Withdrawals with a cloned card at an ATM machine in igando. My Account was cleared

Thanks.
I didn't donate to any church POS or any POS
I don't trust anybody and I keep my stuff personal.

Yesterday when I was trying to withdraw at the bank? I noticed something new.
I was told I had to scan my card for security reasons. The stuff is on top of the machine (ATM). I tried scanning as told then I inserted my card but the whole thing started misbehaving asking me to insert my 8-16 digits pin (It was the first time I ever experienced such). I didn't fully know what the 8-16 digits meant but I inserted my ATM pin which to my surprise was visible on the screen. I immediately deleted

I strongly suspect that the guy behind me (who, together with another person who had left at this time, told me about the scanning stuff must have seen my pin when it showed on the screen.

Now the thing is, my card didn't fall down at any time and I am absolutely sure it was my card that was inserted and swallowed.

So, even if the guy I think saw my pin did, how was he able to access my card which is supposed to be in the machine.

I will be going to that bloody bank now. I hope they are ready to see a mad man

It is high time a 2 factor authentication is provided for POS withdrawals. These crooks are really exploiting the loop hole.

They debit accounts from unknown locations without any camera or surveillance. Worse is there's no limit. At least NFC is limited to a certain amount.

POS terminals should require a token validation on the phone before withdrawal or a picture of the withdrawee in the absence of a phone.

Are you sure of this? I used to use my GT ATM card to buy things online and they don't send verification. I'm not even a cyber criminal with tools. I only supply the 16 digit code and my C'V'V.

I had to break and block the atm cards attached to my main account.

My card was with me all the while. All I did was try "scanning" on what I have come to realise is the biometrics scanner on the ATM which has has alwayd been on that machine and has stopped working for long. (I'm in the First bank right now meeting with them). Then I inserted my card in the ATM and it stuck. The security guy confirmed it both yesterday and now. He asked me to come back today

Now in the bank, the card is no where to be found.

The most important thing now is that
how can I catch the thief? Isn't there anything the bank can do to get my money back?
