Former Kogi Governor, Yahaya Adoza Bello, is alleged to have entered a contract with the American International School of Abuja to prepay $845,000 in school fees. Ali Bello, identified in the document, is alleged to be Bello's eldest child. The document also showed that Bello paid fees for a child that was not even enrolled in the school.

See images below.

The school has agreed to repay about $761,000 to the State.

Due to the historical squalor in Kogi State and the ostentatious lifestyles of Kogi politicians, I shared the following pain here on Nairaland about 5 years ago:

emkz:
I dont have a problem with the cars. Dino Melaye needs to explain the source of his income.

If Nigerians find out the level of fraud taking place in the National Assembly, then we'd set that place on fire. Bogus constituency allowance, inflated reimbursements from the Federal Government for oversight functions, kickbacks from ministries and agencies of government; budget padding, inexplicible constituency allowance for projects never carried out, unnecessary foreign trips funded by tax payers, ridiculous holiday allowances, quarterly payments for only gawd knows what for...infact, if Nigeria is not a rich country, these guys would have collapsed this country.

Now on my way to Abuja, I pass through Kogi State. That state has potentials but they are living in a state of perpetual squalor. I have not been to all the states in Nigeria but anytime I pass Kogi State, I fight back tears. Even the cementary makes one feel for the departed ones.

If not anything, they can start thinking of exporting the rocks they are so richly endowed with to other states not so endowed or even countries for construction projects. Let us not even speak of the Limestone which is required for cement. That state is blessed, but with people like Dino Melaye and Yahaya Bello, Kogi is stunted.

Dino, being rich in the midst of the poor means you are poor. Wealth is a function of how many people you have uplifted, not how many Brabuses or customized Gwagons you have. In 6 years time, these cars would become obsolete, but the people you have uplifted would uplift others and that is how you build a legacy.

The issue is that Yahaya Bello was one of the youngest governors during his time. There was also Ahmed Salihijo, former head of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) fired along with his board for alleged corruption. Then there was Halima Shehu, former head of NSIPA who claimed to have transferred 44 billion naira agency funds to private accounts. Then there was Betta Edu who couldn't wait to win the Nobel Prize in early stage stealing.

Why do these young ones believe their call to public service is a call to be stinking corrupt?

To Yahaya Adoza Bello, HABA! This is too much. For aspiring criminals, NEVER, EVER, EVER, use public funds to pay your children's school fees, buy them properties or cars or marry them wives. Don't spend bribe money on your family members. Do not use your own hands to curse your innocent children. You can let the curse remain with you.

We have seen cases of children of politicians dying in accidents in supercars purchased for them by their parents. We have seen the child of a politician jumping to his death from the penthouse his father bought for him. We have also seen children fighting over properties when their fathers pass away.

Please steal and use your loot for yourself ALONE. If you love your family, you'd keep your crimes and proceeds far from them. Criminality destroys families.

EFCC should tender all these evidence to the right court....not the court of social media and public opinion.

They are in courts. You can see that there is the stamp of FCT High Court.

That makes them public documents.

The school also agreed to refund $760k. It was tendered.

yahya Bello is a thief and likewise, all the other govs that served during the last dispensation, what Yahaya Bello stole may even be a child's play to what others stole and yet they are not been hounded. someone misappropriated over 30 billion in less than one year in office as a minister and yet she is still walking about freely, likewise many other politicians like that.
so the question is why is Yahaya Bello been hunted? anyone who believes Yahoo Bello is hiding is a novice in Naija politics, Yahya Bello is not hiding, efcc, police, DSS and all his associates know where he is staying and sleeping.

ALL THIS YAHYA BELLO EPISODE IS ALL POLITICAL IT HAS NOTHING AT ALL TO DO WITH ANY ANTI-CORRUPTION ISSUE.

how come the Yahya Bello issue is happening at the same time Ganduje is been suspended as APC chairman and having a running battle with some key APC members? it is a known fact that Yahay Belo wanted and still wants to be APC chairman. the political elites in APC are having their battle, all these issues is only meant to keep Yahaya bello busy and in check.
as per efcc, lolz believe them at your own peril. at the end of the day, it may turn out to be unfounded allegations and a media trial. no be today, efcc dey do am. i won't be surprised if they come out tomorrow and say that the figure is no longer 82 billion but just 10 billion and that Yahaya Bello has clarified everything.
all this episode is just politics, nothing more. once everything is set Yahya will resurface and continue attending functions all around.

ANYTIME YOU SEE EFCC RUNNING OR CHASING A POLITICIAN THAT BELONGS TO THE RULING PARTY OR EVEN ANY STRONG OPPOSITION, KNOW DEFINITELY IT IS A POLITICAL ISSUE,IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ANY ANTI CORRUPTION CAMPAIGN

I don't really like this Bello guy for anything. This is really sad for the good people of Kogi State. How can someone mortgage the future of a State this way. Average Nigerian governor is guilty of this act.

He paid up to 2033/2034 session!

He also paid for a child yet to enroll.

He also wanted to be President of Nigeria.

He successfully caused a rift between Hafsat Abiola and Tundun Abiola of Arise News when Hafsat compared Yahaya Bello to Abiola as Bello's campaign DG, and this pissed off Tundun Abiola who ranted against her sister on air. Tundun Abiola had to leave Arise News.

There was simply no limit to the madness of Yahaya Bello.

Kogi state is one of the poorest and backward states in Nigeria due to reckless and visionless leaders like Bello

With how strategically placed kogi is, they should be taking in funds in billions monthly and such used to advance the state in all front, but the state looks like it's from medieval setting

The two major roads there, the okene-abuja road, the abagana road which connected basicaly the south west/east to north is in bad shape, you dont wanna know how many trucks ply that road on a daily, moving items from south to north or vice versa

It's well with kogi people oo

Yet some kogites whose parents receive 3k as monthly salary are here defending him. His unborn children already had their educational future secured in an American International School, courtesy of state funds but e-rats who attended government secondary schools were they wore torn clothing, bathroom slippers and who’s only hope of a decent meal was the watery soup they ate in the name of school feeding will jump on their keyboards to defend this alleged criminal because he’s their kinsman. Who do una?

.YAHYA BELLO IS A THIEF AND MONEY LAUNDERER........ THERE IS NO COUNTRY IN THE WORLD YOU CAN GO AND PAY 760,000 THOUSAND DOLLARS. BANKING REGULATIONS SHOULD ALERT FiNCEN AND AML.
HE PROBABLY PAID THAT MONEY IN ADVANCE TO THE SCHOOL, SO THAT HE COULD GET IT BACK FROM THEM,LATER ON IN BITS AS A REFUND.HE DIDN'T WANT TO TAKE IT TO THE BANK AND HE DIDN'T WANT TO HIDE THE PHYSICAL CASH AT HOME.
THE SCHOOL SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED AS WELL, YOU CANNOT GO TO HARVARD OR OXFORD AND PAY 760,000 DOLLARS AS ADVANCE PAYMENT.

THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD SEIZE AND LOCK YAHYA BELLO UP, STOP PLAYING WITH THIS SMALL BOY.HE IS NOT ABOVE THE LAW....HE IS NOT ABOVE THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.HE IS TRYING TO WHIP UP PUBLIC SYMPATHY INSTEAD OF FIGHTING HIS CASE IN COURT.

IS HE THE FIRST GOVERNOR TO BE INVITED BY EFCC.

ARREST YAHYA BELLO NOW......IF NOT IT WILL SHOW WEAKNESS ON THE SIDE OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.
