The first meeting between the national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and aggrieved aspirants from the Ondo State primary election concluded without a resolution on Thursday.

Party officials, however, announced that the dialogue would persist until a resolution is found.

The primary election, held on April 20 and 21, saw Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa emerge victorious, defeating 15 other aspirants.


However, six aspirants, including Senator Jimoh Ibrahim and Olusola Oke, contested the outcome, filing petitions challenging Aiyedatiwa’s victory.

To address the discord, Ganduje summoned the aspirants, including Aiyedatiwa, for reconciliation ahead of the November 16 governorship election in Ondo State. Although some aspirants were absent, Governor Aiyedatiwa and 14 others attended the meeting.

During the session, Ganduje urged the aspirants to prioritize the party’s interest and unity, drawing from his political journey. However, despite appeals for cooperation, none of the aggrieved aspirants agreed to withdraw their petitions.

Some of the aspirants like Ibrahim, Oke and former finance commissioner, Wale Akintetirinwa also shunned the photograph session after the meeting.

Addressing reporters after the meeting, the APC’s deputy national publicity secretary, Duru Meseko, stated that the party would continue engaging with the aspirants to find common ground for the upcoming election.

These politicians are not after the good of the people. Majority of them are just after how to eat their own share of the national cake.

Party of deceit. How will they not cheat one another?

There cannot be peace without justice. You can't mete out injustice on them and expect a peaceful disposition from them.

Meanwhile na family business. It's left for Ondo people (if INEC would allow them) to elect whosoever they want to pilot the affairs of their state.

APC as a party is a gathering of unfriendly criminals who have looted their various communities, LGA, constituency and state at various occasions trying so hard to act united and present a united political front that will enable them to continue to loot and plunder Nigeria in the name of politics

I have always known when Segun Mimiko, Aketi and Olusola Oke had the ambition of governing Ondo State. Mimiko has ruled, Aketi has ruled but Olusola was unfortunate.

After Olusola kept shouting Emi lokan, he couldn't even secure the party's ticket. Perhaps if Aketi completed his tenure, things would probably be easier for Olusola.

This is why democracy is different from military rule who must get their turns or there will be a coup!

Truth be told that election didn't seem free and fair.

The funniest thing in Nigeria politics is that they will willfully cheat on you and expect you not to protest. After cheating on you, they would pacified you to abide with their rofofo arrangement. But if you are a tough and a patience guy, when its's "your turn" they will cheat others in other to promote you. Oke has not been patience, he has been running from pillar to post, I bet you he can't achieve his aim if he continue like this.
