Jamb also really need to raise the bar. No chance for mediocrity, if you can not make it to the University, find your way to vocational institutions which is really the backbone of any serious nation's development
They need to re -awaken WAEC to back in those days.

When you get to white house for OAU you will understand better. Then for those in Biological sciences the Botany and Zoology department for OAU will test your credibility in your part one. If you don't have a good biology teacher in secondary school you stand the chance of failing these courses. And you will not be able to proceed to your next level and if you mistakenly promote to the next level you may be asked to withdraw from the department causing serious pains and regret for such a student. It's even the best not to go to any secondary school than going to secondary school and having teachers with empty brains or poor teaching methodology. Some of the teachers in public secondary schools cannot even pass their own subjects when the government test them. What a pity. Most of the public secondary schools do not teach students further Maths and Technical drawing and such student is planning to become an engineer with good grades. What a country.

Dear secondary school teachers and school owners, please, help the students and the public by ensuring that students in your school write examinations by themselves and merit the grades they brandish on their SSCE results.

We are tired of seeing students with A1 in Mathematics but cannot resolve the smallest of fractions. A student with distinctions in Physics and chemistry but knows next to nothing about chemical reactions or energy conversion. Students with distinctions in Literature, Government, and CRS, yet blank on the differences between Drama and Prose Fiction, the forms of Government, and the significance of Religious stories.

I had to ask some year 1 students to look for a tutorial teacher to help them with JS 3 and SS1 mathematics recently. The whole 16 of them in my Engineering class with excellent SSCE results are visibly confused at the sight of any arithmetic work. Their last semester's performance betrayed the several A1s and B3s on the WAEC they carry about.

These students you help acquire grades they can't defend are usually frustrated in the ivory tower. Save them a voyage of pain and regrets in the future by ensuring they are well tutored and allowed to prepare and write their examinations unaided.

Even JAMB don't know MATH, what is 76 + 24 + 4.2 + 0.5.

Their percentages are not summing up to 100%

MODIFIED: Na me wey no sabi Maths grin. The categories overlap so the sum of percentages won't add up to 100 it will be greater.

If you did Set and Subset in Maths, you will be quick to realize that:

250 and above incudes those with 300.

200 and above incudes those with 200 up to 300+.

The truth of the matter is that, majority of the teachers we have now, teaches student just to read to pass..

Go to our universities, you see lecturers only teaching student on how to cram and pour it down word for word..

Infact some lecturers will be telling you to make sure you write it the way u gave it yo you in my test book...

So when a student is being taught this way, they tend to forget what they were taught so easily, because they would have poured it down, so when they need to write examination again, they will now be running from pillar to post to cover books in just few days, which is not possible

Please leave the poor teachers out of this..

The state governors should be called out πŸ’―πŸ’’ for the rot in the Secondary Education and in extension the primary education systems across the country..

The Governors pay these teachers next to peanuts (that is those that even agreed to employ some decent numbers of teachers in the first place).. the primary school ones under the comatose Local Government (thanks to the state governors stealing their money) don't even have the privilege of being paid peanuts... how do you expect the products of these rotten systems to turn out..

Primary and Secondary Education systems in Nigeria need a state of Emergency declaration..

We would have that discussion when we are ready..

I want to use this opportunity to appeal to the Nigerian C-in-C, call all the governors like Oshiomole recounted, at least call those in your party if you can't call all of them. Appeal to them to stop stealing local government money. Appeal to them to invest more in the local grassroot in terms of primary education, primary healthcare and Agriculture.. these three done at the graasroot are capable of turning around the fortunes of our country as the three have security dimensions to them..

Let's for God sake put the people first in reality.. let those concerned get serious with governance πŸ€”πŸ€”

What the Lecturer was saying to the teachers, which is, stop helping your students to cheat during exams, especially WAEC and NECO, and thereby facilitating fake results. This has nothing to do with your long thesis on government corruption and ineffectiveness stated here.

While the teachers are diligently teaching their students in both public and private to the best of their abilities. After doing that, they should not at the same time help the students to cheat during critical exams, but should force them to read to pass, as is the case during the old eras.

Private schools are the culprit

So true.

My ward finished from a private school and cleared his WAEC and NECO science subjects. We suspected the school helped their students to pass these exams, because the boy hardly read at home. To test him, we obtained external GCE form for him, he attempted the exam and failed all the subjects, except Civics.

JAMB is good.

Waec and NECO are the problems.

The simple solution is make the DG of Jamb also the DG of Weac and NECO, then you'll see changes. SHIKENA

You're not getting it!
Not the use of "and above", be specific and sum it up to 100%.
We're ignoring it because it's done by exam body, at same breath critisixing students poor performance.
We are not solving problems in SET (Maths).

You are just a talkative! Deal with d main point on ground, u had to travel to sokoto and back just to discredit d messenger and the point.
Is it not true that some sec students don't know anything and "pass" exams?
Is it not true that some teachers and parents are responsible for that ?
So why beating round the bush cos u have ur hatred for the messenger ?

Are universities better?

Universities where lecturers for no good, justiciable and reasonable reason will just be hating students

Where not less than 70percent of lecturers have tested the Kuntus of different female students

See, it is even lecturers that are encouraging laziness among the female gender; when these females finally experience that allowing them lecturers stab their womanliness won't kill them, rather it will result upgrading their actual score, they will be looking down on hardwork.

Lecturers will contribute to your low self esteem, which mostly last a life time; they will humiliate you in such a way that you strongly believe that you are a failure

Forget what Pan Africanists tell us about loving our blackness and continent Africa; black man is nearest to the giant fork wielding devil with tail.

Listening to these lecturers talking ill about politicians will leave you in wonder and aware; you will be like is it this heartless man that is talking about immorality of politicians

To hell with the opinion of university lecturers

Lastly telling secondary school teachers and parents to muster all their efforts for the development of students is like a dentist filling up a rotten tooth without first clearing the cavity. The government are the ones that should first be told to be responsible.

Due to governments callousness and wickedness parents who should chanel at least 50 percent of their energy on their children won't have no choice but to muster more of the energy on work in order to feed, shelter their family.

So government should first be talked to before writing hypocritical letter to parents and students

My plea to the lecturers themselves is they should do the right things and allow only those that merit to pass to actually pass because the people we called graduates these days are no better than an average SSCE worthy holder.

The rot has been on for a very long time. I remembered having a tutorial with a couple of Nigerian friends way back 2011. After I got an equation, we input the values using a calculator and got an answer which corresponds to what we’ solved. This guy asked how I pressed the calculator to arrive at such. I couldn’t believe myself that a man on a Master in Engineering degree could ask such. It’s so terrible in some part of our country.

As of that is not enough, they employ secondary school graduates as teachers. Some even uses 3 bedroom flat as school. Very pathetic. My question is who is giving thise quack schools govt approval to operate?
