Mr. Ola Olukoyede, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has announced that the agency has secured 500 convictions in cybercrimes in recent months.

He made the statement during a meeting with a delegation from the International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol).

According to a statement by EFCC spokesman Dele Oyewale, Olukoyede highlighted the EFCC’s role as one of Nigeria’s leading anti-corruption agencies with a specific mandate to investigate cybercrimes.

He emphasised the agency’s success in securing convictions, with over 500 achieved in the last few months alone.

His words: “EFCC, apart from the police, is one of the prominent, specialised anti-corruption agencies in Nigeria that has the mandate to investigate cybercrimes, and we have been doing that.

“In the last few months, we have secured over 500 convictions in cybercrimes. Over the years, we have had cause to collaborate with (America’s) Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the (United Kingdom’s) National Crime Agency (NCA) and other prominent law enforcement agencies in the world in the area of combating cybercrime.

“We are much ready to do more and also to encourage the heads of the world to give access to information.”

In response, Mr. Craig Jones, the leader of the Interpol delegation, acknowledged the growing recognition of cybercrime as a national security threat.

He highlighted the financial motivations behind cybercrimes and emphasised their significant impact on countries and communities.

“I think many countries now recognise that cybercrime is actually a national security threat to countries.

“This goes hand in hand with financial crimes because the main motivation of cybercrime normally for the criminals is that financial gain and the impact that it makes on the countries and our communities is massive,” he stated.

angry sad angry angry

Useless EFCC always chasing small flies and leaving the bigger problems to roam freely.

Where is Yaya Bello ? Wike looted Rivers state to stupor but today he is the FCT minister. What about the former Zamfara state governor currently the minister of defence under Tinubu ?

Is Tinubu himself not the grandmaster of corruption in Nigeria today?

If the billions and trillions being looted by these politicians is being channeled into the right sectors of this country, things like yahoo will reduce at least. Even salaries earners are complaining because their pays can't buy common commodities to survive. When there are no opportunities, people will look for alternatives.

The EFCC is busy chasing after the symptoms of Cyber crime, leaving behind the major causes which stems from lack of employment, corruption in governance and failed parenting.
We should stop deceiving ourselves.

All with options of a fine.

They pay the fine and then go back to work.

Yahoo or whatever you call it will never end.

More and more Nigerians are recruited on a daily basis. The industry employs more youths than the FG

A yahoo guy stayed eyes open all through the night bombing as they always call it, 1 doll bill, e no collect, he was then lost in deep thought, and he was like "omo! this thing don hard o, e be like sey I go leave am o" he bombed till daybreak, e no see anything. The time wey everybody dey wake up, na that time sleep carry am go Dreamland, for hin dream, hin come see sey client send am huge amount of money, happiness wan kill am, he woke up and said to himself, hope still dey, I just need to have patience, everywhere go still soft.
He picked up his phone and he continue bombing grin grin, some couple of minute pas, he feels he needed a break, he decides to surf the net to check the latest news and happenings in Nigeria, yeah! he was on nairaland and he clicked on efcc record of convicting 500 people, he scrolled down to read some comments, lo and behold, he saw this one, yeah! The one you are particularly looking at right now, why are u smiling, bro... I am talking to u o...
Lemme first congratulate you, even If efcc reach 2million people, Dem no fit catch u, the reason is not far fetched bro, it's just that, one naira or dollar or pounds or euro or Kuwait dinar will never come out of yahoo for u again, I no curse u, it is what it is.. u don collect for that end before, it's game over now.
All u just have to do now is, find ONE tech skill, and take ur time to learn it, 3years after, come and thank me...
Note: When choosing the tech skill, make sure nobody is telling u which one to chose and make sure it is just only ONE you are focusing on...
Looking forward to see ur mention in year 2027
Thank you very much

Unlike sin, some crimes are bigger than others. That been said, yahoo Boys are sharp spin off from our society that doesn't reward loyalty and hardwork, instead, all reward goes to less than 1% politicians that actually do nothing. That is why Nigerian politics is a very bloody and extremely brutal affair.

My point is that you should majorly go after politicians, they are the big fish 🐟 these yahoo boys though have greatly tarnished our image on global scale are still tiny fishes.

Overall, any win against crime is a good win, may Nigeria work for us all. Kudos to the EFCC

SAY NO TO CRIME.

Again,
Say no to crime.

Stealing people's hard earned money that some of them end up committing suicide is what some people see as a career.
Nairaland Fraudsters,
better leave your fraudulent lifestyle and work legitimately.
