The day I tasted Okpa I spat it out immediately. I thought it was close to moin moin in taste but the taste was horrible
I'm a Northerner, but a strong Okpa advocate!

Okpa and coke was our constant breakfast back in the days in Nigerian Law School, Agbani, Enugu State!!

A life saver indeed!!

I'm still addicted to Okpa till date!!

Wheat bread, totally tasteless stuff, even with butter. And also, ewedu. That particular soup gives me PTSD whenever I smell it. I hope to one day get over it.

Did you know that Ewedo is not just a soup, its nutritious and medicinal.

Do your findings you're are missing something.

Call it food addictives, even some garri they pack in supermarket contain preservative and addictive too. You can't just say artificial starch. Though is right to eat unprocessed food more than processed ones.

immortalcrown:
Wait, is company-sealed juice natural? I mean, is such juice the same as home-made juice extracted directly from fruits?

Instant noodles, for instance, often contain artificial flavors, colors, and preservatives to enhance taste and extend shelf life. These additives could be considered artificial elements within the overall product.

The other day I took my son to eat dodo pizza. They are another pizza franchise.

I pointed out to him that there is clearly a difference between their pizza and domino's. He had already noted it. Domino's has a much drier crust.

I am saying this because I would say domino's are the entry level mass market pizza.
Pizza is actually a poor man's food.
That is something we celebrate as Nigerians.

I did a cause on health inequalities one time in uk.
Poor people are the obesed with high propensity to cardiovascular diseases due to eating low quality foods like pizza, fries and the like.
I was shocked.
This is the food for the rich in Nigeria.

And then again, the rich suffer from those diseases more in Nigeria.
Seems like an average poorman in Nigeria eat better than the rich.

Then again, you hardly see the middle class in uk placing order for pizza. Its mainly immigrants stuff and the poor.
The middle class balances their meals.
In usa, it is a different ball game.
India is like Nigeria too.

Lol, I'm serious.

You mentioned plantain. Funny enough, I am not a huge fan of fried plantain. The taste wears me out. I prefer unripe plantain actually (boiled plain or plantain pottage, fried unripe).

I like cake but eat in moderation. I don't have a sweet tooth. Except if you classify Cheeseballs and Caprisun there but it isn't that sweet though. yo good morning there was a time you stated you took train from abuja to edo (if I am right) I can't find edo to abj route in there nrs site, pls can you help me with the link or anything that will be of help... Thank you

I LOVE WHEAT BREAD. See? I'm not sweet tooth. grin
hey, good afternoon, there was a time you said you took train ride from Abuja to Edo, I can't seem to find the route on nrs site, I'm planning on taking train to abuka from Edo... Pls I'd appreciate if you can help me with any information or link

Shawarma and Hotdog.

As for me, I choose my meals based on their nutritional values, not based on their tastes or their appearances. So, I so much like Editan and Periwinkles.

Noodles tastes great but I avoid it because it is not just starch but artificial starch. The same applies to Macaroni and Spagheti. Instant noodles, for instance, often contain artificial flavors, colors, and preservatives to enhance taste and extend shelf life. These additives could be considered artificial elements within the overall product. I rather soak Garri that is natural.

How did you eat the Abacha? Your claim is like that of someone who takes Pap without adding Sugar or anything else to the Pap and asserts that Pap is tasteless. Some bad cooks can make you hate Abacha. You may also hate Abacha if you eat the one mixed with the liquid substance called Ncha. The Ncha tastes like soapy water. I hate it in Abacha but people claim that the Ncha cleans stomach.

One thing I have discovered on this thread is that many commenters are condemning certain foods based on just one-time experience in the hands of terrible cooks. How can one say that Okpa tastes bad? I know at least 3 white men that like Okpa so much.

Another person speaks ill of Amala and Ewedu. I am not a Yoruba. But Amala and Ewedu do not taste bad. I must confess that the appearance of Amala and Ewedu is not enticing. I must also confess that the first time I ate it was in one local and unkept "mama put" and it didn't taste nice. But I later began to eat Amala and Ewedu after I tasted the one prepared by good cooks.

Dog meat pepper soup with rice. Baba I saw someone eat this meal and I fell Ill instantly

Hi there.

The route is Warri-Itakpe.
https://nrc.gov.ng/schedules/

If you go through my thread particularly the first page and two last pages, you'd see that you have to use a vehicle to reach Agbor railway station and enter the train at Agbor headed to Itakpe (Kogi State) railway station, board another vehicle at Itakpe which goes to Abuja.

It sounds like there's some tension and misunderstanding here. It's important to remember that individual preferences and opinions about food, or anything else for that matter, don't reflect the character of an entire ethnic group. Comments like these can indeed spark reactions, but responding with derogatory terms only perpetuates division. Rather than resorting to name-calling, it's more constructive to engage in dialogue and understand each other's perspectives. Just as people have varying tastes in food, they also have diverse cultural backgrounds and experiences that shape their views. Let's strive for mutual respect and appreciation of our differences. By the way, have you tried the Spicy Crunch Burger KFC Menu South Africa? It's quite popular and might be a tasty distraction from any disagreements.

Sorry. I slept off early last night.

Yes, the greatest way. If I ever crave fried plantain, I have to eat it hot straight from the fire. Otherwise, it'd be soggy for me and I'd lose interest. I also microwave fried plantain when it's warm or cold. lipsrsealed

Yes yes. You have great taste. kiss Wheat bread is the truth.

Oh that's nice. I'm very careful of street foods cos I have sensitive stomach.

Yeah. My eyes eat first. My main love language is Acts of Service/Gifting. That alone is visual. Seeing is believing right? grin
I also like fine things, fine men etc.

Yes. I know amala made from only unripe plantain. My folks used to buy lots of unripe plantain, sun dry and do the plantain flour thingy.

You're right. Wheat swallow. I ate a bit of wheat swallow in my childhood. I haven't eaten it since then.

Thank you for explaining that. Appreciate it.
@Folake, the pleasure is mine.

I had some prior engagements too, that's why I'm responding to this now.

Hmmh, I can now see one of the major reasons why you gravitated towards becoming a lawyer... "Acts of service." I love that aspect of your LLanguage. However, "A fine woman who is self-motivated, intellectual and a good conversationalist would be a better turn on for me to start with."

Tbh, Jamaican jerk chicken, bunny chow from South Africa, asun OR boli and grilled fish, both from Nigeria, etc, are some of the classic street foods that can be tasted by tourists and locals alike. Street foods reflect the SOUL of a people and can be got from designated clean environs.

You can check out the Website link below to get a flavor of global street foods and see if you're inspired to try any of these food niches when next you travel internationally or domestically for leisure OR maybe even use the idea to complement your source of income down the road (in addition to your law profession as a young lawyer).

kiss kiss

That is no problem.

Hahahaha yeah, Acts of Service is the koko.

About good conversationalist? That is non-negotiable for me. I can't involve myself with men who can't hold good conversations. All those "How are you?" "I'm fine" "Okay" "Bye" and the convo ends there is NOT FOR ME.

If peradventure I give someone my number and the tone of our convo is already like that, I'd be turned off by Day 1 and ignore the person. I won't proceed further.

Let me know what tickles your fancy, were you a thief in your former life? What are your plans and aspirations? What are your thoughts towards Japa? Do you patronize prostitutes?
Does your family have letterhead paper? Where do you see yourself in 5 years time? (I like ambitious and disciplined men. That too is non-negotiable).

However with all these I mentioned, I am not Sapiosexual. I'm Demisexual. I can have great conversations and all with someone but if I CANNOT connect to you emotionally, then it is a wasted cause.

It's the main reason I have so many male friends that are fine and all of that. People always ask me "You have fine male friends na, hook up with one and be in a relationship". It is really not that simple for me. I need that BOND of close friendship. It is after such bond is created, I MAY now develop sexual attraction to such person. It is not a guarantee though, hence I said MAY.

I'm very picky when it comes to Men too. Na why my heart strong. grin

I like suya, puff puff, boli and grilled fish/groundnut, asun. These are classic Nigerian street foods. Here in Lagos, I get them in clean environs and so far, haven't regretted it or purged yet. That's why I'm careful where I buy stuffs.

Thank you very much Konquest. I'd check the link. Gracias!
(Hehehe I hope to travel internationally soon oh, preferably for my birthday. From my mouth to God's ears. Living in delulu is the solulu grin grin)

Alright, have a lovely day ahead, Ma'am/Sir.

That's mad cool.

I like your energy and thought process here Folake. Some folks say older and younger female lawyers can be a bit boring and uptight, but you've got a quirky persona and a likeable way of externalizing your thoughts and feelings.

Oh, I didn't realize you're now in Lagos. I thought you were either back to Benin or still in Abuja. I assume you're done with your service now and have gotten a good law firm where you're practicing. By the way, what's your current field of legal specialization? Is it property law, family law, etc. "Delulu and solulu?"... Lol. OK, our resident GenZ lawyer, briefly school me on the meaning of that phrase "delulu and solulu" when you read this.

Enjoy you day Fola.

Take care. wink

P.S. Hang on... Fola, I'm as "masculine" as a "He." I ain't a ma'am... Indeed, my moniker exudes "refined masculinity." OR does kon.quest sound feminine to you? *Smirk*
