Firstly, Nigeria and by extension Africa is gradually being pushed to an extreme form of capitalism, a very very harsh system and environment even those pushing us have never ventured. We're like in a perpetual predictable experiment by these Western international organizations, corporations and Nations. Very predictable!

There's not a single country today that does not pay not one but different forms of subsidies on products for its citizens. China pays trillions in agricultural, energy, electricity, industrial subsidies, which is the most of any country. The USA is second with almost a trillion dollars, the USA even subsidizes it's richest, like Elon Musk and co so their industries can compete.

Russia, Saudi Arabia, USA, China, Japan, France, India, Egypt, South Africa. I promise you mention any Western nation and major or even smaller less competitive economies and I will prove they pay subsidies.

Nigeria with a population of well over 200 million, teeming young people and fast growing in numbers is a very attractive and high potential, something most of these Western countries literally pray and beg for. As a growing and developing economy Nigeria should cry and wail that the economy grows at a mere 3.1% rate. With this, in just a few years even Ethiopia (growing more than twice Nigeria's rate) and Morocco will leap frog ahead of Nigeria making Nigeria the sixth or seventh in Africa by GDP in Africa.

THE COUNTRY NIGERIA WILL NEVER SEE ANYWHERE CLOSE TO ITS POTENTIAL AND CAN NOT PROGRESS WITHOUT SUBSIDIES. SUBSIDIES ON FUEL, ELECTRICITY, AGRICULTURE, ITS GROWING SMEs AND THE LITTLE INDUSTRY IT ALREADY HAS. YOU CAN NOT MAINTAIN THE SO-CALLED INVESTORS YOU ALREADY HAVE, DO NOT GO RUNNING LOOKING FOR NEW ONES.

Even if the government decides to sell or give away kuli kuli to the general public there will always be corruption.

The West subsidizes even their billionaires and their companies but they complain subsidies in Africa benefit the rich. Yes of course, why not?!!!

When you don't pay subsidies, which is as old as can be recorded in ancient times, you slow and even cripple your economic activities, we see it. And you still do not solve any problem you claim to want to solve (there's still fuel scarcity).

Western countries industrialized very largely thanks to subsidies. Christopher Columbus would never have gotten to the Americas without government support. Africa most begin to see subsidies differently, subsidies are far more effective than any form or system of "palliatives" and hand outs from any and especially a corrupt country like Nigeria. Subsidies go round and go wide and further.

I will sit and argue this with Okonjo Iweala, Tinubu and all his appointees, Peter Obi ( whose picture I have as profile photo). PROPAGANDA IS A VERY EFFECTIVE WEAPON Of WAR, AFRICA LOOSE AND EVEN TODAY ARE AT THE HIGHEST RECEIVING END OF THE MOST EFFECTIVE AND OLDEST FORMS OF BRAINWASHING. WE'RE LIKE ZOMBIES!

China today would have never thrived without the government Subsidies it still enjoys. The USA as a country and its economy specifically will crumble tomorrow if it removes all forms of government supports and especially subsidies from the poor way up to the most wealthiest.

Even the US government provides subsidies!

You can’t just wake up overnight and announce subsidy removal, unless you cheated on your accounting exams

There is absolutely, absolutely NOTHING wrong with government support, that is exactly why there was a government in the first place. Especially for a very poor and still very much developing country like Nigeria.

There is a silent technological war going on. It is the chip war. It is mainly between Taiwan, USA and China. China and USA are trying to displace Taiwan to achieve independence in chip manufacturing process and gain sophistry. China and USA are practically subsidising their chip makers with average of $100 billion.
That's as good as a subsidy. Some years back ir was USA subsidising car makers because they know what that translates to for the biggest car market in the world.
In Nigeria, people who have submitted their brain to Oyibo pipu will be pushing for removal of subsidy and think it makes them sound sophisticated. Nonsense.

Very beautiful and 100% true reality. THE MOST "WESTERNIZED" AFRICAN IS THE BIGGEST AND MOST WILLING SLAVE.
