Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu: Ohanaeze President General Raises Alarm Over Death Threats by Ibrahimcoomasie: 4:07pm On May 09
The President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, has raised an alarm alleging that some Igbo people are out to destroy him for committing no crime except for being the President General of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation.

Iwuanyanwu said that the same people were responsible for the death of the late former President General, Prof George Obizor after they burnt his residence in Imo State.

According to him, Obizor died after his house and his academic works were burnt down.

He, however, vowed that the apex Igbo body had decided to deal decisively with those described as dissidents whom he said were working against Igbo interests and using the name of Ohanaeze to trade with some political harlots.

Briefing journalists late Wednesday evening at Ohanaeze’s National Secretariat in Enugu after a long hours of meeting of the National Executive Committee of the organisation, the President General, vowed that those charlatans would no longer be allowed to have their way anymore.

They tried to assassinate former President General Chief Nnia Nwodo and he was lucky he was not at home. They bombed his house. The same gang tried to assassinate late Chief George Obizor and when they could not get him directly, they burnt his residence. It was after the burning of his house and everything – his books that he died of the shock.

Every President of Ohanaeze they will try to assassinate and now they are trying to assassinate me for doing no wrong other than that I accepted to serve Ndigbo despite my age.

We are going to investigate the people who want to assassinate Nwodo, who killed Obiozor.”

Iwuanyanwu, however, warned that “if what is happening in Igbo land today is not nipped in the bud now, it is going to be very disastrous for Ndigbo in the future.”

The apex Igbo body insisted that there is no faction in Ohanaeze Ndigbo, saying only the Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu-led Ohanaeze Ndigbo that exists.

Iwuanyanwu stated that after the meeting of the NEC, the Igbo apex body decided to submit the names of the dissidents led by one Okechukwu Isiguzoro who parades himself as the Secretary General of Ohanaeze to Ime Obi, the highest decision-making body of Ohanaeze for necessary punishment.

According to Iwuanyanwu, their names would also be sent to all Igbo communities to be ostracised, while lamenting with pain the subversive activities of the group who he said were being driven by money had caused the Igbo Race.

Iwuanyanwu said he had a father called Isiguzoro and advised him, but he allegedly made demands of huge amounts to take care of his health.

He said “I promised to assist but still he did not stop issuing illegal statements to always counter Ohanaeze Ndigbo’s position on issues, just to confuse the public. He requested that Ohanaeze should give N50 million to go to Germany for medical treatment or he will continue to sabotage Ohanaeze’s activities.”

While he ruled out that the dissidents were being sponsored by some politicians because of their political interest, the President General explained that one Engr. Ibe who was working with them as the factional president general of Ohanaeze had come to him to tender an apology and professed his support to his administration while noting that he was no more with them.

Iwuanyanwu said that the most painful action taken by the dissidents was a rumour they circulated last week, accusing him of planning to go and beg the North for civil war.

“I have never visited Sokoto State in the past 30 years or so. I visited Sokoto last when I ran for the contested for president of Nigeria so many years ago. Such a thing was never contemplated or discussed at any Ohanaeze Ndigbo meeting,” while insisting that such would never happen.

He insisted that the 1966 military coup was not plotted by Igbo officers, rather an Igbo General stopped it, saying that Igbo deserve commendation for that.

“The coup of 1966 is a military affair and not an Igbo affair.

“Nigerians should beg the Igbo and not the Igbo to beg the north because we are the people gravely injured.”

Iwuanyanwu, however, announced that the NEC of Ohanaeze had decided to take the activities of the dissidents to Ime Obi to take drastic action because if they are not stopped now, they will destroy Igbo land.

Ohaneze versus Ohaneze. Family affair. Internal crisis. Fighting over money as usual. No problem because it is just like Nnamdi Kanu IPOB versus Simon Ekpa IPOB. Family Fighting against Family.
The only strange thing in this Ohaneze issue is the personality of Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, who was contesting to the president of Nigeria a couple of years ago but has now reduced himself to the leader of a tribal town hall organisation. That he is now Fighting to keep his fractured and splintered town Hall organisation is indeed sad. How are the mighty fallen.
From Presidental candidate to leader of a splintered tribal town hall organisation. THAT IS THE REAL STORY HERE......very sad........

Nope! The real story here is you busybodies pretending it’s ‘family affair’, yet taking the time to post rubbish on the thread! As much as i disagree with their stand and pronouncements on certain topical issues affecting Ndigbo, Ohaneze remain the foremost socio-cultural group representing Ndigbo, and only a non-Igbo busybody would try to belittle the position of its leadership!

Even before opening the thread, i knew it had to be the Isiguzoro character that was the one being referred to by Chief Iwuanyanwu! The fool is cut from the same Judas material as ekpa….both can sell even their mamas for the ‘right price’!

Your post actually mirrors mine and you agree with my points but you are only unhappy because I am not Ibo.

I don't need to belong to your ethnicity to put out the observations you apparently agree with.Once again it is sad watching a former presidential candidate such as chief Emmanuel
Iwuanyanwu retreating from being a national presidential candidate to fighting over the leadership of a splintered and factionalised tribal town Hall meeting.......

One of these days, sanity will return to Igboland because there are simply too many idiots running around insulting Igbo fathers with impunity.

Chief Dr Engr Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu CFR, is an IGBO ICON - a man with LIFELONG SERVICE TO NDIGBO.

When he was a young man in his twenties, he enrolled and fought gallantly for Biafra.

And much of his life, he has done his level best to serve Ndigbo.

What Iwuanyanwu achieved as a young man, most of the idiots insulting him cannot achieve them in their entire lives!

He came out of a deserved retirement to serve Ndigbo, and all sane and thoroughbred Igbo (real undiluted Igbo) value and respect him.

He is working for Ndigbo free of charge, and even spending his own money wherever he can to serve Ndigbo.

Kitikpa ga agbagbu atulu obuna na akpali Iwuanyanwu na Alaigbo! cool

My post doesn’t mirror yours!

In one breath you say ‘it’s a family affair’, and in another breath you go on to write thesis on the matter!

So Chief Iwuanyanwu shouldn’t have a life….so he shouldn’t serve his people just because he once vied for the position of president!? So Ndigbo should forget about being Igbo just because they find themselves in ‘one Nigeria’!? You take such a view because you’re not Igbo, and probably look down on Ndigbo, and this accounts for your apparent disdain for the foremost socio-cultural organisation in our region!

You have started with the same tricks you use on IPOB: ie, work behind the scenes and sponsor shameless efulefu dingbats like Ishiguzuro and ekpa to try and infiltrate, factionalise and destabilise organisations you either see as a threat or that you want to control for one reason of the other!

Is this fight a family affair or not?
Did Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu once contest for the presidency?
Is Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu now presiding and fighting over the leadership of a splintered/factionalised tribal town Hall meeting?
Is IPOB not splintered into two factions under Nnamdi Kanu and Simon Ekpa?
Are all these characters not from one ethnic group?

When you answer these questions truthfully, there should be no quarrel between me and you......

‘Quarrel!?’….far from it! I’m just noting your attempts at deceit!

Why say ‘it’s a family affair’ then go on to give your jaundiced take on the matter!?

So what if Chief Iwuanyanwu once contested for presidency? Does that therefore mean he shouldn’t have a life afterwards….that he shouldn’t serve his people? Pray, what position would he have accepted that would satisfy you that he has accepted a position worthy of a ex-presidential candidate?

Like i implied earlier, Ohaneze and IPOB ARE NOT SPLINTERED OR FACTIONALISED! It’s mischievous and insecure characters that are going about trying to give this lie some traction and the oxygen of publicity! They sponsor efulefu scum in secret then declare out in the open that Ohaneze or IPOB are ‘factionalised’! The only people buying that are those like you hoping the it’s true! That Chief Iwuanyanwu has come out in the open to say some animal impostors claiming to be Ohaneze ‘leadership’ are after his life, doesn’t mean he’s dragging his position as leader of the socio-cultural organisation with them! Just like IPOB has Emma Powerful as its spokesperson, Ohaneze has Chief Iwuanyanwu! Was there any time Ohaneze under Iwuanyanwu, or Prof Obiozor before him, recognised this Ishiguzuro impostor for you to now claim he has broken away to form a faction of Ohaneze!?

And so what if all those mentioned are all of one ethnicity? Even the 12 were all Apostles, but that didn’t guarantee non of them would have a unsavoury character, so what’s your point?

Doofus! Igbos are facing DIFFERENT challenges in Nigeria from those faced or admitted by Arewa and Oduduwa whatever! Each organisation or grouping are distinct and trying to link them all as being similar and indistinguishable from each other is a exercise in deceit and diversion!

For instance, if i were to ask you why no Igbo has been head of state or president since 1966, what will you say? If i were to ask you why the evil Nigerian hegemonic state went to the ends of the earth to extraordinarily rendition Mazi Kanu and are still holding on to him even when their own courts have declared him free to go, what will you say?
