I don't buy this story from the army. Must everyone run away from these military people?

And they can lie!

I have to agree with you. You are very correct. Ideally, barracks should be far from the heart of town. Military personnel shouldn't be having regular interface with civilians.

There's even nothing bad in interacting with civilians but what oppress them? Just respect us and you'll be respected back it's very simple. But the moment they start using that stupid slang, bloody civilian, it automatically makes them feel they are superior to us, meanwhile im reality they are meant to serve us but they are lording over us

Once Nigerians lose their fear for life and death. It's over for the army the leaders.

Sorry to say the army had gone downhill from the time of Buratai.

They have not evolved rather they have regressed. Like Darwin said adapt or die, while society is changing, their mentally remains the same.

The army cannot afford to defend a population that hates them, who will give them food in the market, who will drive them etc.
I see most soliders on the road and no one gives them rides anymore. Really heartbreaking. In civil climes, they are cherished.

They have aggrieved most from the South East and South South.
If they continue like this, they will be more hated than the police

So you mean the military could boldly make this kind statement?? When we are not banana Republic?

Which sane person will beat up a soldier in Nigeria, just like that... without any provocation? I'm not saying it's right to beat them up but only God knows the atrocity the soldiers committed to warrant that kind of bold beating from the people undecided

When it comes to open public places like markets, army boys just like to throw their weight about and sometimes this could lead to some very humiliating spats with civilians...The other day at the mechanic village at Apo, some boisterous army boys misidentified and descended on an innocent mechanic doing his job, when multitude of men including traders and artisans surrounded these soldiers and asked why the ruckus, the soldiers whilst observing their disadvantage in numbers, had to comport themselves. I just believe the army are somewhat pained that they got owned by bloody civilians...

The truth is the military top gun didn't want to learn from previous experiences and not doing enough to prevent future occurrence. I will say it again raiding point of interest to avenge wrong in a Gestapo manner will never solve all these clashes rather it will always pitch the army against the innocent civilians because the perpetrators have mastered the act of once they are done with dealing with the officer they will scamper to safety or even move out of the state only for the army to descend on the innocent ones and that's backward as nyash of a chimpanzee.

The only way to stop all these is to reorient the army personnel's about proper engagement with civilians and public, constitutionally if not on special duties they don't have any business interfering with civil issues. It should be left with police. As long as army keep thinking they can rustle "bloody civilians" simply because they are in uniform these skirmishes will continue until the whole country is consumed by their own army. Nigeria army is the hawk that eats its own child.

The way I see it if an invasion happens right now, Nigerians themselves will spitefully sell out our own army due to the general hatred against them which is a serious matter. It happened in Delta. Now Banex let's not talk about the North and South East. It's become a pattern. There needs to be a massive reorientation of the military. Civilians are not your punching bags to flex with angry
you are not far from Truth.
Imagine an invasion through SE.
They will welcome the invaders with open hands and most will even join their ranks as a force multipler in hopes of getting freedom from this failed unity.

True nationalism among most Nigerians is all time low.

Unless on official duty, army personnel have no business wearing uniform outside the barracks. Unless of course to bully and intimidate.

Wetin soldiers sef find go there. After all they weren't on official assignment at that time.

Why will soldiers be interfering in civilian matter. Someone bought phone con spoil con dey call soldier. Soldier too con dress up wan go fight, base on say him be agbekoya. That is idleness and rascality.

Both parties are at fault. Soldiers too don dey collect like police. Na big see finish oo grin

You obviously dont know what happened and your first statement shows you are a dull person.
Asking what soldiers went to do in the plaza.
Is there a separate market created for soldiers.
So a soldiier can not walk into a market to buy something like every other Nigerian.

You dont see anything wrong in the traders selling a fake iPhone right

They have been doing it to people.
Even an eye withness said the soldiers wer not aggressive despite the fact that fake phone was sold to them. Yet they were attacked by IP0Bs in the market.
Yes I said IP0Bs because we know the people who do this business of selling fake things and defrauding people nation wide....

You had better know something before coming out to bleat

All what Onyema stated in the release are outright hogwash. Though I wasn't there, it's pretty easy to deduce a likeness of what happened from the way normal soldiers behave and the fact that they were handcuffed by the police, they were almost definitely the aggressors and continue being the aggressors, acting like the biggest cult group instead of a law abiding organization....the country tire person honestly

It was a very unfortunate and unnecessary incident. Why beat the soldiers like that when they weren't trying to be violent themselves? No life was at risk, so why?.......Those banex touts need to be taught a lesson to serve as a deterrent to others who may want to try this again.

We should respect our men in uniform. Report through the right channels if they are found wanting.

Where are the cowards now when Banex is locked up? Why can't they show up to enforce their rights?
I guessed u ar a uniform man to judged this way, in the first instance, is soldier supposed to interfere in civil matter? No, but they did just because anything goes in Nigeria. Were they not suppose to advise their relative that owns the phone to engage police. Nigeria soldiers are not displaying professionalism, they are power drunk. You said people should not touch uniform men, fine but let them not annihilate innocent citizens.
