Cannot be done in Nigeria, as IMEI database is not collated and used for security blacklist.

The beauty about Blackberry Protect, is that it retrieves all your contacts, sms, emails etc.
The aspects of disabling the phone through blackberry protect is a fallacy !!

@Lexus
How do you know its a fallacy? Have you tried it?

@beejazzy
Go to the Blackberry Protect website you should be able to handle it from there.

Take an e-stroll to blackberry forum sites and read blackberry users experiences.
As I would always say, google is your friend !
I have traded blackberry devices long enough to know certain shortfalls !!!

Andrew, the main issue which was posed was, can stolen Nigerian mobile phones (in this case a blackberry phone ), be blacklisted across Nigerian mobile networks ?

Yes they can be blacklisted. The blacklist if only on nigerian networks can still work on other networks in other countries. We have e-5 and e10 blacklists. e-5 can still make calls but can never register to bis while e-10 can receive full signal but cant even check balance.

So are you telling me that, Nigerian networks operate a blacklist system ? Can you name the networks that can blacklist in Nigeria ?
Re: Stolen Bb by Andrew3(m): 1:23pm On Dec 08, 2011
Nope they wont blacklist in nigeria, the operators in nigeria can forward phone details to rim on which device should be blacklisted and why, also providing detailed level of blacklist. rim operats an online blacklist database only available to telecom operators. operators from different countries post their desired phone details fro blacklist and the technical team carry out as instructed.
Re: Stolen Bb by Lexusgs430: 1:45pm On Dec 08, 2011
Andrew, you probably know that our
Nigerian networks has probably never sent any blacklist details to RIM yet !
