According to Machiavelli, the best way to treat your enemies is to destroy them completely, when he said: "For it must be noted, that men must either be caressed or else annihilated; they will revenge themselves for small injuries, but cannot do so for great ones; the injury therefore that we do to a man must be such that we need not fear his revenge." But we are enjoined by our Christian/religious faith to treat our enemies kindly How best do you think one should Deal With his/her Enemies  |

Love your enemies and pray for those who dispitefully use you. However, those who kill by the sword shall die by the sword. And it is a righteous thing with God to recompence tribulation to those who trouble you. This is wisdom, the one that created this world and by which the world holds together. |

Well, it aint easy but the bible says we shouldn't deal with our enemies even if its in our power to. We are to love and pray for them. We are also to do good to them. |

[b]Well 'jesus' said turn the other cheek - what christian does that these days? The Torah says an eye for an eye. Exodus 21:23-27 Burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe. Exodus 21:25 Clearly the Old Testament has more colour and flavour for revenge, and not only that but it justifies a christian for their self righteous acts. Even though 'yhwh' said vengeance is mine Hebrews 10:30- clearly he neglected to reinforce that notion when he was delegating the israelite army to invade, rape and slaughter every person in lands that yhwh apparently coveted. The same sentiment can be applied to christians and muslims who invaded africa under the guise of the Faith based Initiative: Shock and Awe where the slaughtering and raping of men and women and children, not to mention slavery was purely just to bring the heathen to god and win gods heart: Clearly we see comparisons today with contemporary christians and muslims. I prefer Killing With Kindness, or if I'm impatient, I simply dial a muslim or christian to do my work for me. Making voodoo dolls is so tiresome.[/b] |

Friends, I am of the view that the best approach is to remain lovely regardless of how we are treated. This is the recommendation of God. The current alarming trend is praying against one's enemy is not from God. Why claim to be Christians if we cannot follow the bible? |

Treat them kindly, love them irrespectively and pray to God to give you the Grace to forgive them. Previously, I was quick to take revenge on past misdeeds, but now, I am thankful to God for showing me the true meaning of forgiveness. If God is so kind to Forgive us of our innumerable sins, then why take revenge over another person, whose sins (if they repent) are forgiven? |
