Alhaji there is absolutely no way to prove to a 100% degree of certainity that it is the authentic one hence the word "could" was used. however what ever the case may be the shroud of turin defies scientific explaination and scientist are now beginning to admit that is supernatural so go suck a lemon

so what you are saying is that it is based on "speculation"?ever heard of that word,Pastor?

OP should try this simple experiment:
1. Go to your kitchen and smear some palm oil on your face.
2. Then get a white handkerchief, spread it out then press it against your face so that your image is imprinted on it by the palm oil.
3. Look at the image. You'll notice that instead of a 2 dimensional picture like you see on the shroud, you'll get a pattern that doesn't really look like a face at all because it was made in 3 dimensions.

The picture on the shroud is just that, a 2 dimensional picture. It was put there by a very clever medieval faker of holy relics. It was not made by a holy light or any such nonsense. You don't need any fancy tests to tell that this obvious fake is an obvious fake, just a little common sense.

But then, you can't really expect religious people to think rationally.

I watched the boring-[b]a[/b]ss documentary.

Somewhere along the line they tested the age of the cloth. Wasn't as far back as the time of Jesus.

Did you read the entire article which contained statements such as

In 1988, radiocarbon tests on samples of the shroud at the University of Oxford, the University of

Arizona, and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology dated the cloth to the Middle Ages, between 1260 and 1390.

Those tests have been disputed on the basis that they were contaminated by fibres from cloth used to repair the shroud when it was damaged by fire in the Middle Ages.

More recently, further doubt was cast on its authenticity when Israeli archaeologists uncovered the first known burial shroud in Jerusalem from the time of the Crucifixion.

Its weave and design are completely different from the Turin Shroud, they said.

The Jerusalem shroud has a simple two-way weave – but the twill weave used on the Turin Shroud was introduced more than 1,000 years after Christ lived.

Then we have this further clincher.

There have been numerous calls for further testing but the Vatican has always refused.

Why have they refused further testing?
