The end of the year is the best time to see masquerades in Nigeria whether it be Lagos "eyo" masquerades or Efik "ekpes". Throughout our cultures, masquerades have come to mean life, mystery, and joy. So, I'd like for us to create a compilation of photos and videos of Nigerian masquerades most especially those that are shown during the "-ber" months.

I'll start off by displaying these videos of Arochukwu ekpo moasquerades that are played during the New Yam Festival. Please feel free to add pictures/videos of masquerades from all over Nigeria.

Nwaotam -is the most famous and celebrated masquerade of the Ibani people.
The most celebrated festival among this people is Nwaotam in which bona-fide Ibani sons and daughters, in a colourful display of culture, accompany their masquerade into the river as directed by the god of their land.
Nwaotam Play or Nwatam is performed during christmas in Bonny and new year in Opobo/Bonny
