Written by Abiodun Awolaja Wednesday, 28 December 2011

IN this church, there is a young man who has a marital problem. If only you can believe, your problems are over,” the pastor would say in the lodges called churches, and at least four young men would come out. What kind of joke is this? In a church of over 900 persons, how would there not be persons with marital challenges? It seems that when Nigerians go to church, they leave their brains behind at home.

Hear Primate T.O Olabayo: “President Goodluck Jonathan is not the messiah that the nation needs at the moment. Even before Jonathan became president, I had predicted that his time will witness a lot of terrorism and bombings (Will these things be absent during the messiah’s hour?) That time, I advised that a northerner should be allowed to rule first (so that the messiah from the South could come next? Or so that he could hand over to a fellow northerner, the Jehu?); that Jonathan is still young (at above 50? Is Jehu/Messiah an old fellow then?) He (Jonathan) is a forerunner, not the messiah.’’(fair enough).

“Nigeria has not seen anything. Next year is going to be tough. We may (this is tentative) witness a revolution similar to what happened in Egypt. The poor will face the rich (a natural law of dialectics). There will be no war, but what is going to happen will be more than war.(Can the Primate be a bit more specific?) There will be hunger and anger (these are constant realities in Nigeria) and this will lead to problems.’’

“What will happen in the country will be very pathetic. Nigerians should prepare for sacrifices (how?) in order that they do not become the sacrificial lamb (or perhaps goat). It is a year that the untouchables (the likes of Babangida? Obasanjo? Who? Boko Haram sponsors?) will be consumed. The problem of Boko Haram and terrorism will be on the increase (this is an ordinary statement). It is a year that the military will strike although there will be no coup.’’

Now, now, Mr Olabayo, jokes apart. Has the gentleman prophet read Adewale Ademoyega’s Why We Struck? How can the military strike and yet there will be no coup? If the military strikes, it is going beyond the realm of obedience to civil authorities, right? Is this an open challenge to the Federal Government?

Olabayo then waxes very bold: “There will be anarchy and young officers will take over reign of power (from Goodluck Jonathan) and put things right.’’ Is this the secret desire of the prophet, to “put things right’’? There will be no coup, and yet young officers will take over? Young officers like Kaduna Nzeogwu and Emmanuel Ifeajuna? Young officers are dangerous.

Olabayo continues: ‘’The year 2012 will be a year of divine flourishing for the righteous. But for the wicked, it is a year people will take their blood.’’ My! 2012 will be a very bloody year when the people will take the law into their own hands! Perhaps it will be, in the words of novelist Helon Habila, “bloody brilliant’’! The courts will be useless then, and judges will collapse in their dirty gowns as they try running for cover, to avoid the wrath of the incensed mob advancing towards the controversial and lunatic Court of Appeal!

’’Those that enslave us, God will deal with them (amen). Although cases of corruption will be on the rise in the country (this is right, because there is “too much money” in politics and in the corporate world) and the poor will continue to suffer in the new year (this is a factual curse), their prayer will be heard and a Messiah will emerge (in preparation for 2015?)’’

Primate Olabayo’s Jehu postulations are mortally fractured, as Jehu is not an inspiring Bible character at all, but a total ingrate who served idols after wiping out idolaters. His prophecy is dull, incoherent and insane.

By the way, my recent piece on Guru Maharaji drew the anger of his devotees. Here is a reaction on the Tribune website entitled “Think beyond physical before making any decision,” written by one Rufai Olayemi Hafeez, on December 18, 2011 : “When the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, the angels of the lord uses violence to taketh it by force. It’s so shameful that somebody like Awolaja can write such a castigating article against the SATGURU MAHARAJ JI. Mr Awolaja, it seems you were involved in school politics when you were in university because you talk like a politician but I must tell you that if you don’t know something, try to make an effective research on that particular thing so that you won’t be joking with everything you are doing and what you have just done has proved that you are so daft towards the professional work of journalism.

“My advice for you is that you make deep research about who SATGURU MAHARAJ JI is and beg for forgiveness of the creator because what you’ve just done has a repercussion and don’t forget that we are very close to leaving this year (2011) behind, you know. So ask for The CREATOR’s forgiveness so that you can be free from the wrath of the SEVEN ELEMENTS of the Creation. The SUN that is shining on you, The MOON that lightens the night, The MOTHER EARTH you are standing on, The WATER you cannot do without, The AIR you breathe in, The STAR which convey your destiny, and FIRE which I believed you know what it can do. These elements are all children of MAHARAJ JI and are ready to fight for their father’s image. So Awolaja, seek MAHARAJ JI’s forgiveness because you cannot eat your cake and still want to have it; and also, always THINK BEYOND PHYSICAL BEFORE YOU MAKE ANY DECISION BECAUSE EVERY STEP YOU TAKE IN THIS LIFE IS BETWEEN LIFE AND DEATH. IRE O……”

My being in 2012 is settled, not at the whims of Mr Guru, and this is an open challenge. Let me provoke Mr Hafeez further by saying that I am more precious than all the elements of creation because God made me in his own very image, and I will be on this very earth long after all the gods of the earth, including Guru Maharaj ji, whom God has promised to famish ( Zepahaniah 2), have been cast in the lake of fire.
