Tunny,
Thanks for your observation, but do we have alternative- Buhari who arrogantly belief that Nigeria belong to them (Fulanis) or No none sense and green horn Ribadu who is dinning with devil of ACN?
Please answer me, Jonathan is both humble and lack confidence in his position as a president of the most populous black nation on earth.

The fact is just that GEJ is nobody in history of Nigeria, and it has become a bitter pill for them swallow to be in Aso Rock, the problem is not GEJ , the problem is just that there is no unity in Nigeria.
Re: President Goodluck Jonathan Should Resign? by jennyb2: 5:59pm On Dec 29, 2011
GEJ is going nowhere. let him remain and help
nigeria to realize d long awaited revolution.
in d end evryone will truely understand wat
he actually meant by FRESH AIR.
Re: President Goodluck Jonathan Should Resign? by nagoma(m): 6:51pm On Dec 29, 2011
GEJ did not become president on the basis of merit and positive tangible qualities as a politician. He ascended to the presidency based on sectional and religious sentiments. No matter how much you guys try he can never perform. But the same sentiments will maintain him as president while the country boils. His ineffectiveness will be transferred to the Sultan or some other hate figure. So fresh Air Enjoy!! angry

He will not resign and nobody to impeach him rather, Let the God of revolution enter into a young officer of the army and take over from them and arrest every living person that ever served in the government since independent till today and freezing their account and jail them all and use the money to build new Nigeria. That is my wish for my country Nigeria. Just like Jerry Rawling style of revolution we need God give it to us. sad

He should resign but I doubt he will. African leaders are too obsessed with power.
Re: President Goodluck Jonathan Should Resign? by GboyegaD(m): 7:16pm On Dec 29, 2011
Jonathan has proven to be highly incompetent as such, if he resigns, Sambo would know that he either chooses to be competent or a vote of no confidence (incompetence) would be passed on him thereby, forcing him to resign. We need a precedence to let whoever that comes next know that we have awaken the Nigerian Spirit in us and we are now concerned about how we are ruled and would no longer sit back for someone to run the country as though he or she is running his / her home.
Re: President Goodluck Jonathan Should Resign? by Wallie(m): 7:27pm On Dec 29, 2011
I don’t think GEJ should resign but I think he needs to change his game plan by refocusing his priorities. Before he came into power, I’m sure his focus was on improving the economy, which is why he hired all the big guns.

Now that he’s in power, insecurity is competing with infrastructural challenges for the spotlight. He needs to learn fast and readjust his strategy to deal with the insecurity; otherwise, his economic plans won’t get off the ground.

Someone suggested that the legislative branch should take control of the country. That is simply impossible. The 3 branches of government are separate and independent. The legislative branch makes laws, the judiciary branch interprets the laws, and the executive branch implements the laws.

Even if the legislative branch were to impeach the president, assuming he committed an impeachable offence and there was enough votes in both chambers, the provisions made by the constitution still has to be followed. The only thing the legislative branch could do will be to grind the country to a halt by not passing any bill, and even then, the president will still be in charge.

Ever heard of Checks and Balances or Separation of Powers? The 3 branches of government are EQUALLY powerful and they counter-balance each other. Moreover, only the president can control the armed forces.

Some of us speak and insult the president on nairaland without providing solutions. Can all of you calling on the resignation of the president profer solution to the current security situation in the country. can you list at lest 5 strategist you will employ to curtey the current situation and explain how you feel the strategist will work considering the population, the godfatherisim, the international communities, the disperity in resources allocations etc. some people can not manage there home which comprise only their wife and 2 or 3 children but they will come out to criticized the president and call him all kinds of names.

LET US ALL BE MINDFULL OF ALL THE THINGS WE SAY ABOUT OUR LEADERS!!! LEADERSHIP IS FROM GOD AND ONLY HIM KNOWS THE PURPOSE ON WHY HE CHOSE THEM.

Why?
Because that is precisely what the Northerners want. THIS IS A DEMOCRACY AND WE MUST LEAVE IT AS IT IS.
It is fraudulent to convert a democracy into an oligarchy by means of terrorism.

Democracy is the WAY OUT of our suffering.

To return this country to Northern hegemony is to remain in suffering for CENTURIES to come.

Not at all. I prefer that the country divide DEMOCRATICALLY.

Any violent attempt at division using military means will cause the British bastards to come and defend the UNITY of their former colony. Got it?
Re: President Goodluck Jonathan Should Resign? by Seun(m): 8:20pm On Dec 29, 2011
@LEXYLOV: Those who don't remember the past are doomed to repeat it. The nonsense that you're spouting is exactly how military rule came to be in Nigeria.  What you fail to realize is that power corrupts.

^^ Then how are we going to divide?

How about Jonathan convening a Sovereign national Conference to determine where we are headed in this country?

Or we should wait till they kill everyone in Nigeria before we do?

The 9-step mission of Boko Haram -->

1) The North feels that they have lost grip of the gains of their victory in the civil war.

2) They cant stand Goodluck Ebele Jonathan being president and surrounding himself with SE, SS and SW influential ministers and military personnel.

3) They start making noise about the laws of Allah and how we MUST all be subject to them.

4) Boko Haram appears, destroying lives and property in the North, FIGHTING FOR ALLAH.

5) Reprisal attacks against Northerners take place in the SE, SS and SW. . . a much needed part of the plan.

6) Pogroms take place in the North, directed at SE, SS and SW infidels that do not believe in Allah.

7) Anarchy reigns everywhere, more reprisal attacks against Northerners in the SS, SE and SW.

8.) A military coup takes place, led by a junior Northern military officer, ousting the govt of GEJ. Mediocrity reigns once more.

9) The North reclaims is hold on money/power . . .MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.

A time will come when EVERY Southerner will rise up against the bullcrap going on.

Then division will be swift and sweet.

The British and all their Western rubbish will then have no say in the matter.

Jonathan will orchestrate the democratic division process. He is on a hot seat. So he must rely on the power that comes from the Southern people.

I hope these BH attacks will help to unite the South. We are so divided and hateful of each other. This is why the North has lorded it over us for so long that they think it is their God-given right to do so.

So when would he start his orchestration?

At what point in time does our elected president say enough is enough? How many more people need to die before he starts?

Re: President Goodluck Jonathan Should Resign? by maclatunji: 8:38pm On Dec 29, 2011
@Wallie, I am proposing that under my new concept of AGGRAVATED DOCTRINE OF NECESSITY, that the National Assembly should:

1. Force the President to sack all service and security (including Police IG) chiefs whilst new competent ones are selected by the legislature after thorough screening (If he fails to agree, threaten him with swift impeachment).

2. Freeze the removal of fuel subsidy.

3. Initiate a wholistic constitutional reform that makes States in charge of their resources and revenue, with 30 per cent of all revenue generated going to the Federal Government for Foreign Affairs, Defence and Security, Education (Federal Government-owned institutions) and Federal Government owned hospitals/medical centres,

4. The scrapping of the office of the Secretary of the government of the federation for that of a Prime Minister.

5. Local Government creation and control should be left to States to determine.

If GEJ agrees to these points, he should be left to complete his tenure. Otherwise, start with the vote-of-no-confidence and see what is reaction will be before moving forward.

That is why I am a STRONG supporter of GEJ, and I would even want him to continue past 2015.  cool
His being there would force the North to discuss things it has adamantly refused to discuss for many years.

My only advice to Southerners in the North is that they should leave the North. That's all.
