Nigerians Should Protest, But Should It Be For Fuel Subsidy? by Geds: 12:00am On Jan 06, 2012
It is not that Nigerians are protesting that saddens me, it is that they are protesting for the wrong reasons. Instead of us to ensure judicious use of the funds freed up by subsidy removal and make sure transport is subsidized and workers salaries are increased, we want government to revert to the old ways of doing things and keep paying the people who smuggle subsidized fuel out of the country, yet we continue to decry the lack of infrastructure and jobs in the country. Have we not yet learnt that after 51 years of running the country the same way, it is not working. At least state governors will no longer have excuses for not developing their states. We all should take to the streets to challenge corruption and cost of governance, not fuel subsidy removal. Please let us all rethink our strategy so that our children will not pay the price for our mistakes just as we are paying the price of our fathers.

Well said. But as usual this gospel truth will fall into deaf ears. Foolish people protesting for all the wrong reason. And they keep wondering why smarter people refused to join them.
